"We checked in late after a long day of traveling, about 10:15pm and the process was smooth. We had not eaten and when we asked about food, the desk clerk told us the restaurant was closed and the only thing they had to offer was what was in the bar and in the small lobby shop, which consisted of Doritos, potato chips and chocolate. We asked about places in town and he said all were closed, even the gas station. Sadly, our dinner was Doritos and an Icelandic chocolate bar. (We had stayed at another hotel in Rekyholt and due to getting in late from viewing the eclipse and stuck in traffic for hours, had also missed dinner. They, however told us we could call in and they would make something for us, which was a lovely charcuterie board and some salads. That was most appreciated). Wish the Berjaya could have offered something like that - it would have gone a long way. Or at least have more options in the bar and lobby for hungry guests. The hot tubs were also closed at 10pm, so we were not able to use them. Even tho it was not even dark yet. Breakfast the next day was an extra $40 each, so we did not partake. We paid $482 for our 1 night, so would think that would include breakfast. Otherwise the property was attractive, unique, clean and the rooms comfortable. Just disappointed that we could not use the amenities because we were "too late"."

"The room we were assigned had water on the floor from a flood so they gave us a free upgrade to one of their cabins, so it was an extra nice stay. Very clean, friendly staff. Note: Myvatn has a lot of midges so be prepared to be swarmed."
