Great hotel, easy check in and stay! Clean and quiet!
Only downside was that it’s in a dodgy area, there was even a shooting round the corner while we stayed there, obviously not the hotels fault though!!
From the exterior the hotel didn't look very nice but internal was very different and rooms were very clean tidy and modern.

Hotel stay
The staff at the reception was pleasant and helpful. Good room service for the breakfast.
The room was fairy clean as was the bathroom . Apart from small stain on the bed sheet, a little bit of broken plaster around the window .The Window was dirty. And the heating dident come on so was a little bit cold in the night.
Preferred being moved from box room to bigger room was to costrefobic could do with bigger kettles in room smaller sweeter tomatoes along with breakfast big ones were tasteless bacon a little less crispy a tad hotter for all also would go down a treat.
Was visting family nearby so stayed 2 nights. Cant comment on breakfast as we ate out. However the room we had was massive, large enough to cater for 4 ( we had a double and 2 singles) without being cramped. The ensuite was also more than enough. The rooms were clean, tidy and had the usual kettle, tea, coffee and a full sized fridge. Ironing board and hairdrier. Staff friendly and very helpful.. cctv all over main areas and car park ( behind the hotel so felt safe leaving car. Overall id definately stay here again and great value for money.
The room and shower were very good, The wifi was good, The bed was comfy. Unfortunately I had a room on the lower ground floor next to the rear entrance to the car park. Although the room was good it was very noisy. Not the hotels fault but the guests were having loud arguments, some were banging in and out the door all night. Stay at the hotel but avoid room 22
The room was beautiful, the house also very nice. Sadly pour room was next to the kitchens so we were woken early and often by crashing and banging of cooking utensils. When we went up for breakfast, there were no cooked options as they'd run out. We asked and were told it would be an hour until they were replenished. Happily there were no arguments about a refund for breakfast. Sadly we had to work around a man on the phone to the manager about a shower leak he was being blamed for. Sounded very bad customer service for him.

I had a loft room in this listed building, on the second night with rain I had a leak in the room and was up from 05:00 from the drip onto the carpet.

Bumped hotel
We were booked in to this hotel but on the morning of the stay the rooms were mysteriously not available so we were booked into another hotel the Cambridge. It seems likely these 2 hotels may have same owner. Looking previous reviews this is not unusual. Cambridge was not up to much. I would have booked the Cambridge if I had wanted to stay there and it would probably have been cheaper. Sharp practice I believe.
And the Cambridge no longer has a bar.
Hotel was ideally located 15 minute walk from the station. My room was a small single room at the top of a rather rather steep, narrow staircase. I was told the staircase is listed, but it was a bit of a struggle even with a small case.
Most disappointing thing about my stay was the price, £100 for a small single room, which most other nights cost £45 at the most. I realise Take That were in town, and all the hotels probably increased there prices, but more than 100% is just greedy :-(
A lovely old house converted into some great rooms that are well equipped and decorated. Greeted with a friendly welcome and atmosphere. Well worth the price.
