"Our second time at the Bay Leaf on our trip to the Andaman Islands. We found the BL to be a modern well run hotel and a good central location. We stayed in two types of rooms we found both to be of a good standard. Eg: comfortable beds, clean well maintained bathrooms and good AC/Fans. The rooftop restaurant /Bar is a nice place to eat dinner or enjoy a cocktail overlooking Port Blair, once again we found the level of service excellent. "First romantic holiday with my partner, spent £130+ on the valentine room. The whole hotel was filthy and staff extremely unhelpful. The room was VERY dirty, finger marks all over the mirrors and windows, dirt on the back of doors, a mushroom growing out of the mirror!!! The wardrobe door didn't open so no place to store clothes the blinds out of the balcony type seating area did not open, the shower dribbled and the water was freezing! The hotel had 2 'restaurants' stating they serve separate cuisine. The menus are identical. Food over the tables and floors, windows filthy with smear marks and food splatters, the pool was dirty so couldn't swim and there were 2 sad looking lounge chairs beside which were both ripped up and battered. I felt dirty staying at this hotel and it is a shame as was really looking forward to do., and the price I paid was unacceptable. The reception staff had no clue what was going on and couldn't help us in regards to getting to the ferry port, so ended up walking 45 minutes in 30 degree heat with 2 suitcases. I will be putting forward for compensation as our stay was poor. I would not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel. "
