I just booked the night before I was going to Hengchun and soon after got contacted by Vincent, the owner, via Line and WeChat apps. Not sure if he uses others as well, but I highly recommend to stay in contact this way.
Through this way I told him my arrival time because he's not at the homestay all day. In case he wouldn't be there you'll still find the wifi connection data on the door to make sure you can contact him.
The room wasn't huge but good size (even for two people there would be enough space for luggage). Be aware that the house has no elevator! However, Vincent carried my luggage to the second floor. The room got a balcony but not a very exciting view.
You'll find free water in your room and can always refill in the common area on 1st floor. There you'll find teabags and some candy as well.
It's not allowed to wear shoes in the house, you can either use the slippers provided or - like me - just walk on socks. Maybe that's the reason why everything is very clean.
When I asked for soap (non was there in the basin) Vincent brought it within one minute. Furthermore, on the second night, he came to give me a drink. It was a nice surprise!
