This was a return visit to Le Refuge, having stayed there 3 years previously. The owners remembered us and on arrival were offered 'coffee and cake'! This visit was just as memorable as the first with the hosts being the best. The property is superbly located being a short distance from the center of Hasselt. The bed was very comfortable and the room was warm and restful. The breakfast was just what we wanted and presented at the time we wanted. In conclusion a perfect stay and a big thank-you to our hosts - we plan to be back next year all being well!!

Rustig gelegen.

Rustig gelegen. Mooi authentiek gebouw met een park. Doen het met hart en ziel. Eigenlijk zoals een b&b hoort te zijn. Ideale ligging tussen Genk en Hasselt.

Great place to stay

We had two nights at this property- it was great! We had a great welcome with freshly brewed coffee and tee with warm fresh cake. The room is big, clean and nice. The owners are very nice and helpful. Breakfast was great, big fresh and lots to choose from. Great choice of a place to stay. Enjoy ** must have a car.

Mr. Freddy closed the door on us and refused entry

Mr. Freddy refused to host me, my wife and our 3 year old despite of having made a reservation. He closed his door on us while we were standing in the driveway at 10pm. We were running late and we called Mr. Freddy up at 630pm to let him know that we would be at the B&B by 9:30pm. He was OK with us being late. We reached the B&B at 10pm, parked the car in the parking lot and dragged our luggage a good distance to the B&B door. Mr. Freddy opened the door and immediately saw our 3 year old son. "You cant stay here!" were the first words that came out of his mouth and he started closing the door on us. It was 10pm in the night and we were in a foreign country with no place to go with a 3 year old. His reason for not letting us in: "First you come late and then you have a 3 year old with you". We had clearly called him in advance notifying him about our delay and we had included in our reservation request that our 3 year old would sleep with us so wouldnt need an extra bed. But Mr. Freddy wouldnt listen and continued to close the door again. After some questioning we eventually found out that he wouldnt let us stay because we had an infant which was not covered in his insurance policy. It was only after we offered to pay any extra cost to cover for insurance that he seem to be OK with us staying. However, by this point we had no intention of staying with a host who could leave a family out in the middle of the night. It was only at 2am that we found a hotel to stay that night.

Perfect B&B in beautiful location!

Super friendly owners, easy check in and out. Really great location just outside the city center, peaceful setting. Our window looked out into a rose garden. Bed was very comfortable, plenty of room for two in our room. Nice big bathroom. Breakfast was all you would want. Highly recommended!

Exceptionally nice, quiet, comfortable

Le Refuge is exactly that. A quiet, comfortable place with very helpful and welcoming hosts. If you want to be near the Open Air Museum it is most convenient. Highly recommended.

COmfortable B&B

Had a wonderful stay at this B&B. Nice property, comfortable room and wonderful breakfast. A warm reception on evening of arrival and host was open to nice conversations.

Jammergenoeg was er verderop een disco. Erg lawaaiig, zodat we de ramen moesten sluiten. Ontbijt was goed, wel met z'n allen aan een grote tafel.

Perfekt service!

Jag råkade av en slump boka detta B&B vilket var ett lyckosamt val. Fantastisk service från paret som bodde där. Trots att jag kom tidigt fick jag ett rum och lite senare bjöd de mig på äpplepaj. Frukosten var över förväntan och rummen jättemysiga. I omgivningarna fanns det möjlighet till löpning och promenader.

Wonderful stay

Beautiful room with lovely furnishings. We were welcomed with a cup of tea and warm apple pastries which made us feel so welcome after a long drive. Nothing was too much trouble, the breakfast was comprehensive, varied and bountiful. We would certainly recommend Le Refuge to anyone who values quality in a character property set in its own charming grounds. We certainly hope to return again.

Erg leuk b&b zeker een aanrader. Het enige nadeel vond ik dat er een spoorweg achter het b&b loopt en er snachts meerdere treinen langs komen.
