This was our second stay in the Hummingbird cabin, and it was as nice as the first time. The cabin is rustic but has all the essential amenities. Grocery shopping is just across the street, it is quiet, and the people in Happy Camp are very friendly. Be sure to visit the Karuk museum and learn about the original inhabitants and their amazing skills.
Although the owner was good with communication this property is VERY OLD. They did have a fire going when we got there but it really only heats up the area its in. The rest of the house is very cold, and only a couple electric heaters that do not keep up. The beds slept good and the bedding was clean, but the rest of the house (floors, shelves, ect..) where very dirty.

awesome place
To all the people that complain: I don't know what the deal is. These are cabins, not a swanky downtown hotel. I really enjoyed my short stay, just passing through town. It was very quiet, I got a good night's sleep, WiFi worked great, and the property manager was super nice and helpful.

Stay away at all costs. Drunk owner is trash.
I never was able to check in. The owner was very combative and belligerent over the phone. It sounded as if she had quiet a few drinks before speaking with me. Slurring words cursing and being very dismissive of my concerns.

Everything worked: the large flat screen TV, the AC, the wifi, the shower, toilet, lights, etc. I stayed in the "man cave" and it was a very authentic rustic experience. My suggestion to the owners is that even people who appreciate such things don't want to pay money to look at dirty, scuffed up walls, and so I would prioritize repainting first.

I booked this accommodation around 3 PM, and only after 5 PM did the host inform me that they had overbooked and offered me a completely different room—not what I reserved. When I arrived around 6:30 PM, the host literally yelled at me like a lunatic, claiming there were no rooms left, without giving me a chance to speak or explain. The situation was absurd and shocking. As a result, I was left without a place to stay and didn’t find a hotel until after 10 PM.
To make things worse, I contacted the host for a refund and received no response. I also reached out to the platform, and they said the host refused to issue a refund. This is completely outrageous and unacceptable. I highly suspect this isn’t the first time this host has done something like this.
Avoid this listing at all costs.

Filthy with Code Violations and Upcharges
When we checked in we found parts of the cabin adorable, but were quickly overwhelmed with how dirty the place was. The bedroom floor was do dirty we swept up two dust pans full of dirt and dust from the bedroom alone. The towels and washcloths were dirty and appeared to have been used but not washed. There was disgusting food left in the refrigerator, for example a jar of mayonaisse that had expired 2 years ago. Plates and silverware pulled from the cupboard and drawers had dried food on them. Numerous electrical code violations and plumbing code violations. The kitchen sink sewer line appeared to have gotten plugged sometime in the past and the owners connected a new line and discharged the drain line into the back yard but it had come apart and was discharging into the patio area. I booked thru hotels.com but then saw the host charged my credit card more than double what the website advertised. When I questioned the owner why I had been charged the additional, she stated that the place rents for that amount and claimed she had no listing on hotels.com See photos for code violations and old dried meat stuck on the dish drainer.
