The staff where friendly, Rooms where clean and well kept, but the area around the hotel is a rather dangerous slum. Shame as the hotel itself is really nice, if the area around was cleaned up id happily go back but as of right now dont feel safe walking around there
The room itself was fine. The area around the hotel was crowded and unpleasant. Beggars and hookers on the sidewalk. And there was no Wi-Fi. What kind of miserable excuse for a hotel doesn’t have Wi-Fi?
The hotel itself was fantastic. We loved the theming and it made the room feel really clean, relaxing and special. We had two double beds and shared as a group of three friends. The bathroom and shower were great, with a massive mirror on the window. The inset lighting around the planet paintings and Moon ceiling lighting were great. The room also had good storage and lots of electrical points which makes such a difference when a group all needs to charge their phones.
The staff at check in were efficient and the process took only a few minutes. Check out was also easy.
The location has good and bad points. It’s a short walk from the main train station down a straight main road. The road has lots of Middle Eastern eateries and cafes/bars, plus late night supermarkets. It was close to the lots of LGBT scene in St Georg too.
The trouble with that was the noise… we just didn’t sleep. Police raided the area immediately below us each night with sirens as it’s where a lot of undesirables seem to congregate near a public toilet block. There was usually someone unconscious on the pavement during day and night. We didn’t feel unsafe but we were a mixed group… a lone traveller would likely feel different.
Check in time is also worth mentioning… there is absolutely no leeway on the 10pm curfew. We thought we had planned in 4 hours of time for trains to be late but it wasn’t. We called ahead and had to stay elsewhere night 1… but even then our booking was almost cancelled.

My stay was overall good. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. The internet speed was good, the check-in process was not difficult, you have to do it on your own. The check-out time was very early, it would have been better if it was 11:00-12:00. There are markets around. It took 10 minutes on foot, not far from the train station. The theme of the rooms was nice, but the lighting was insufficient. Even when all the lights are turned on, the room can be dimmed. It should have been a water heater. Same My stay was overall good. Difficult machine automated check in process ....... we travel as a group and booked 7 rooms and it took a long time! Hotel manager told us off for checking out late at 10.30am despite the check in confirmation email clearly stating 11am ....... for let himself into our rooms to tell its a 10am
Room was inadequate (curtains missing, could block the streetlight out) and when I explained this to the staff they were extremely rude.
Did not offer a room change, could not fix the lighting and curtains issue.
The area around the hotel is rough and gets noisy during the night. Hotels.com says that check-in ends at midnight but the sticker above the check-in machine suggests that it’s actually 22:30, which caused stress and confusion when I arrived at 22:15 without the check-in code emailed over! This place is reasonably priced if you’re only here for 1 night, but would recommend bringing some noise cancelling headphhones or earplugs for the evening.
The hotel was totally fine and everybody was just so helpful and open. But the area during the night is really scary. Normally I would avoid passing such places during the night.
There is a lot of pearl clutching on reviews about the area around this property. It’s completely safe, yes okay there are diverse people around including some homeless beggars. Get over it, this is late stage capitalism. The facilities are exceptional, especially for the price, and the location is great nice and central, can get anywhere in Hamburg very quickly.
The bad reviews regarding the area are down to two things - racism and classism that is it. It’s safe as houses - it’s Germany, the western world, nobody is going to attack you for no reason and there is tons of people around.

Check In eher umständlich. In einer Stadt in Deutschland ein No Go! Das Frühstück war nur am 1. Morgen super.
