Decent hotel for anyone who needs a peaceful rest!
Location a little hard to find as we drove. Surrounding was peaceful & quiet but problem was the area became extremely dark and quiet at night with hardly any shops open for dinner. For those which are open, the dining place is small with few seats which meant certain waiting time is required. Nearest convenient store is 5mins drive away from hotel.

Had a great comfortable stay. The new annex was updated and clean. The breakfast was amazing, with Japanese and western selections. The onsen was a bit small, but not crowded if you go during the week.

Great hotel and service but location not ideal
Location was difficult to get to and the station near by was under consturction for upgrades so getting around was tough without a car. Even with a car the drive up and down the slopes in the dark at night was interesting... The rooms and service were great but I would choose a better location next time.

Hotel is very nice and clean. The breakfast buffet offers a good variety of Japanese items and standard selection of western cuisine (i.e. eggs, sausage, bacon and toast/bread). Two observations that I'd like to share about staying here. For most people, access to this hotel will be via the Gora tram. Per the schedule that I had the last train heads up past this hotel at just after 7:00 pm. After that, you are stuck either walking uphill a ways (which can be difficult if you have older people within your party) or taking a taxi. Need to also remember that the tram station for this hotel is not connect so need to make sure you get off on the correct side (the right if going up hill). Second observation is that restaurants in the main Gora town site seem to either be open for lunch (close by 3:00 pm) or dinner (open @ 5:00 pm or later). Dining options in general seem to be limited. Issue is that if you plan to ride the tram at end of day, this will dictate when you need to have dinner which will determine how much venturing you can do. Otherwise, you will be limited to dining at the hotel which is fine as the food is excellent but just pricey. Again no issues with the hotel itself however, if I were to visit Gora again, I'd probably look to stay around the main town site at the bottom of the tram or just stay in Hakone Yumoto. Also, Gora is extremely busy even during the weekday. The tram is packed when riding from the bottom up. Be careful if you are carrying luggage.

Nice hotel but if you are looking to include the buffet dinner do not book on this site. Booking only references “half board”. No explanation is offered as to the meaning of this. In short in means dinner and breakfast are included but not the buffet dinner.

Fantastic service & Food.
All the employees are very well trained and the service is polite and excellent. Their food especially dinner is way above what you expect from the way the hotel looks (small & a little bit drab). Even morning buffet is the best I have ever had. However, nothing is perfect. there was a mistake on their side and two single rooms became one double bed. They offered another single room after my complaint but a smoking room. It looked OK when I went to the room after dinner but once I opened the closet, it was like a Pandora's box. They did not spray deodorant in the closet. I moved to another room but next morning.

Lovely hotel in Naka Gora. The shuttle from Gora station was wonderful otherwise the hike up the driveway and stairs is a little tiring with luggage. Hotel is in a quiet location close to Ropeway. Only downside is nowhere to eat except in the hotel.

Although I had problem with the dinner choice as our dinner was Japanese food which as Muslim was difficult for us to eat because it was not halal food (No pork, and no alcohol) , but the hotel tried their best to cooke what is suitable for us. Our family of 5 stayed at the newer annexe wing. It was serene and quiet. Although they did not provide yukata for the kids in the room, we managed to get them from the reception. Very pretty! The onsen was good, we went during dinner time and almost had the entire area to ourselves. There was an arcade and kids play area too. Other than welcome drinks, do also ask for the late night dining menu (ramen, dumplings, nuggets, fries) if you are not booking dinner with the hotel.
