This is a working man's hotel off the highway in Guayamas. It is very basic. The room was fairly tight. The free breakfast was good with lots of fresh fruit and Mexican chiliquiles. It is dog friendly which was the main reason we stopped here.

The staff was good, the beds were so so, the room was very clean and like new. There was heat and AC which it was great to have heat. The area around was convenient. The dinning in the area was alright nothing close. Most of the dining was outdoors so it was too cold.

Suprisingly Under-Impressive

This was the first time we stayed at a City Express, but we normally stay at lower-end/less expensive places comparable to this. Let's start with the good: *All staff was friendly--this included desk, kitchen, cleaning and guard. *Room was clean and comfortable. *Easily accessible and in a good location for our needs. Things that surprised me: *They make you wear those paper/plastic wrist band that are so uncomfortable! I hated that! We were there for 4 days and had to wear it everywhere we went. It surprises me that an establishment like Marriott would resort to making you wear those uncomfortable and annoying wrist bands. I would think that they would come up with a different system. *This Marriott does not have a pool. Surprising for a Marriott! *There were three of us in the room with only two towels--understandable. I called the front desk to ask for another, they told me I had to come down and get it. Surprising! Any other hotel we have gone to has brought it to us. *Sent son to get the towel. Stood at the front desk for about 10 minutes, but they did not help him. He is 15 and might not have asserted; nevertheless, he was there. All personnel left the front desk so he left. Rude! *Called several times before answer, told me to send him back. *Breakfast, not bad, but very little variety. Surprising! *Key cards reset each day. We had to return daily to get them renewed. Annoying! *Key card accessed gym day 1, afterwards guard had to let us in. Inconvenient!
