Bit dissapointed thought it would be much better than expected. No english channels on tv No room service or ordering. Seems like a small hotel. Lots of staff at reception speak english but quite a few dont I got food poisoning at the restaurant on lobby level and had to muss the canton fair from the day it started till the day it ended in bed with severe fever and stomach flu. The large crowds at breakfast makes it hard to keep utinsils clean and food safe with folks coughing and hawking over the food. Leaves the staff unable to properly sanitize tables after use. Rooms other wise were ok. Smoke every where from people smoking. Beds were super hard and hard to sleep on for people like me who sleep on their stomach. One thing for sure, i wont be back and will return to the3 or 4 hotels i normally stay at for the past 15 years. Be warned.. only good thing is its close to the canton fair, which i could not attend.

I had stayed here in the past without any major issues, and frankly it was due to the much better price compared to other hotels during Canton Fair. On this particular occasion I experienced: 1) awful cigarette smoke smell throughout the floor and room. The stench of cigarettes permeated the sheets and made staying in the room unbearable. The hotel did not attempt to enforce its no-smoking policy on the floor 2) Been coming to the Canton Fair for a decade. Anytime I need a last minute train ticket to HKG, a member of concierge at any reputable hotel will arrange to pick one up (a lot of times free but sometimes for 20-30 RMB.) This concierge initially offered to do it for 95 RMB, which was about 50% of the entire ticket price. That's just extortionate. So I refused. He then attempted to negotiate it down to 80 RMB. No thanks. I simply purchased one online. 3) I had previously printed multiple documents at the hotel biz center (which has the equivalent of dial up internet) without any charge. So on this trip, when I asked to have my online train ticket receipt printed for pick up, the concierge, sensing he had lost out on a service fee to pick up the ticket, then said it would cost 30 RMB to print the ticket. 4) The breakfast at the hotel was pretty subpar, and there's no fresh juice. Most of the meats are out at room temperature for extended periods below 60 degrees so be careful of salmonella. I will never stay here again. ** AVOID THIS PLACE **

Somoke odor everywhere.. even in the room they changed me... people smoking in rooms with open doors, all isles with smoke and nobody cares... bed extremely uncomfortable... bathroom not clean... Its a shame because the building is spectacular, and construction...

It is not an international business hotel, it only caters for Chinese travelers. None of the staff speak much English. The food is only Chinese. The business centre and the hotel staff are not set up for business travelers.

This was the most miserable stay that never happen anyway except Vanburgh, When we were at reception checking in, they told us no reservation, when we showed them our hotel.com reservation, they went in the back office and print exact same conf. But they said they couldn’t honor the room rate despite having the confirmation in front of them. Whoever book in this hotel should be really careful. Don’t let this hotel ruin your vacation.

I won't stay here again and won't recommend.
Lobby of the hotel stinks. It has a very strong musky smell and gave me a headache throughout my 4 night stay. Check in was not pleasant. The receptionist took a while to finally acknowledge that I have been waiting for a long time but with a sulky face. Service needs to be looked at. Amenities for the room is bare minimal, they didn't even provide body lotion. Room make up is almost non existent, only the bed is made. The location is lousy, 15 - 20 mins walk from the nearest station. One of the Gym light has been faulty for 4 days and no one fixed it. The only saving grace is the concierge boy who at least puts up a smile all the time. No way will I stay here again.

Feels like a Western hotel, but no English
The hotel is very nice; it was actually much better than I expected. -Perfect for Canton Fair, and has bus service to complex daily. 15 min away by the shuttle. -Breakfast buffet and Dinner buffet are very delicious and abundant for the price. A la carte menu leaves much to be desired. -There's a good size fitness center and nice outdoor pool on the 5th floor (locker room is clean and has locking mechanism on lockers) -Room is spacious, and has mini fridge. Room is very clean and well kept. Nice work desk for business trips. Buyer beware: -The beds are hard as rock. -No one speaks English more than a few broken words. -They require an upfront deposit of the full reservation amount + more $$$ in anticipation of anything you want to charge to the room (this they call a deposit). -Internet connection is slow, but not unusable. No access to Google, Twitter, FB, Messenger, YouTube, Gmail.

While the hotel staffs tries to go out of their comfort zone to understand what you are saying. They do not speak english. The food is good. The room smells like cigarette every day and night, but it was ok in terms of comfort. The good thing is that you can control the air conditioner

Spacious room for 2 adults with a child to stay in. Hotel staffs are friendly and helpful. Only thing that disappointed us are the taxi drivers. If you don't know your way, taxi driver will drive you merry go round. Look so near yet so far.

The hotel is located on a big avenue, which has never-ending stream of buses. 5 mins walk to the nearest mall/supermarket, 5mins walk to street filled with restaurants and 15mins to the nearest metro station. Hotel room is in excellent condition - staff speak mediocre English. Had a funny incident with housekeeping: the cleaner did not clean our room but took off with the tip. The hotel supervisor took appropriate actions immediately once complained.

Stayed here while visiting canton fair. This hotel was fine. This is a large hotel that services everyone well. Large rooms, large breakfast buffet does feel a little impersonal but for the number of people they look after its a smooth operation. The lobby lounge seems small in comparison to everything else. The guys on the door are great and there is a shuttle bus to the fair.

The service and cleanliness, together with location is what would bring me back again. I was visiting from Australia and during one attempt to order dinner from room service they couldn't understand me, so a staff member came to my room with the menu and circled each item that i wanted. I haven't had this experience in other China hotels. The bed was very hard, but is expected in China. Overall very satisfied.

My wife and I had a good stay. It is a higher end local Chinese hotel where the room and amenities were standard, but the hotel service did not stand out. The hotel is right on the edge of the new financial and commercial heart of Guangzhou. It's worth a stay if its in your budget.

Good Business Hotel but lots of Construction now.
The hotel is located about 15 minutes walk from the Nanjing Road West metro station (about 1 hour 15 mins from the airport by metro). The metro station is right at a major shopping district with lots of restaurants and shops. The alleyway to the hotel from the metro station is now the greatest and some may not feel too safe to walk to the hotel from the metro station. Taking the cab is not a great option too as it is so close. The hotel is right across the street from a Four Seasons Hotel, has a Starbucks on the ground floor and a great cafe/bakery called Rembeld on the other side of the hotel which is better than Starbucks. The room was large and comfortable. My room faced the road and the construction was throughout the night but really started by 6am. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was large. Overall, very clean and much like any other hotels in other countries. I stayed on a "smoke-free" floor but as usual, the smell of smoke is quite evident on the whole floor and in the room through the ventilations. This is quite common in any hotel in China no matter how highend they are. Water was not hot enough but it was not cold. The amenities in the room was very good. The wi-fi throughout the hotel was nice. As usual, the internet access is quite slow in China because of the filters the traffic goes through. Make sure you know where the hotel is as there is no sign of Hojo until you are about 100 feet from it. Staff spoke good English.

Great Location for Canton Fair
Ecellent Hotel, very close to the Panzhou area where the Canto fair is held. Very co-operative and helpful staff. A bit expensive but worth it if you are at the fair all day and need a comfortable place to come back to within 10 minutes.

they are still in 19th century
This type of hotels try to offer 4 or 5 star hotel, but they are far away, they dont understand that in service the big picture is less than the small picture, small details make a diferencie. The elevators were so bad programed that it took forever to wait. They had a breakfast buffett in the morning where you can seat 100 and there were 500 guests and everybody fought for place and food, incredible!!! diferente cultures together and complaining because there is no order. They should visit other hotel chains an learn. Many details that make the stay very bad from Tianhe área one of the worsts hotels. And The duty manager did not care to solve any of this problems, he said that is just the way it is, to many people, but sorry!!! and offer discount next time to come. Sorry never again to stay in this hotel.

Great Hotel, but bad directions.
Hotels.com showed the Vanburgh's hotel location on a google map that was incorrect. My wife, my 3 week old son and I spent 3 hours trying to figure out where it was at. A nightmare! We didn't get into the hotel until half past midnight. I will never use Hotels.com again, I will post this on my Facebook, my twitter and tell all my friends and family to avoid Hotels.com We thought we were a short walk to a subway line near the American Consulate, but it ended up be much further away than we wanted. Very disappointed!

Excellent value for the money. This caters primarily to Chinese clientele but the food, both Chinese and Western is good. The staff went out of their way to help and several staff members, including the concierge speak English well. Had a room with a great view on the 19th flr and everything appears to be fairly new in the room and works well. New fitness center (that was always empty) and had enough equipment to get a good workout.

Residential Feel
East is a bit off the tourist path so quieter and more residential. Right on mtr station so very easy access. The rooms are splendid. Gym renovation taking ages though
