Nice and clean room. However, the room was not ready at 3pm. I checked in around 430, and was informed of the delay. They did give me 2 complementary drinks for the 10-15 min wait. So it was not a bad moment. Big and Clean room, though the freezer in the fridge showed it had not been defrosted in a long while. Loved the extra towels and wash cloths. You also look great in the bathroom light. Across the street from van Andel arena and food was great too. I loved the bistro in the hotel.

Would definitely stay here again. Great place and great people. Some minor things that would have made it better. There is no microwave in the room, you have to go downstairs to use the microwave. The hot tub was out when we stayed and that was one reason we chose this place. The shower door doesn’t open by the water handle so you have to get in, turn on the water, and get sprayed by ice cold water. You can’t just reach in turn on the water and let it get hot before getting in. Also something weird was going on with the outlets in the room. Charging our phones and our phones died, thought something was wrong with the phones, took them to a phone repair place and they charged up just fine. We ended up plugging in the bathroom plug with no problem. Phones charged in there without an issue. The Starbucks in the hotel is not a full service Starbucks so no frappucinos.

I was so disappointed 😞.....I requested a room with a view at least 6 months in advance and they didn't care at all about that request 😔 I got there looking forward to their pool and hot tub and they were both closed down due to some type of maintenance issue.... One of the only reason I booked was for a Starbucks in the hotel and of course I found out only when I get there that it is not a real Starbucks and that are also out of espresso for the day!! 😞 Ask the furniture looked really dirty for the rates they are charging per night!! I have to say it was one of the worst experiences I have EVER had in my life!! I have never been so disappointed and from what that show online it's very different in person!

When reserved room it stated parking available. It did not say at a cost. 29. to park a car for one night on top of paying for the room was a little outragous. Was on 3rd floor and heard traffic all night long. Will not be my first choice next time.

We are aware that, while any external noise is outside our realm of control, it is occasionally a frustrating situation for our guests and I am so sorry that it impacted your stay. I also looked into your concern that there was no mention of a parking rate when you booked your reservation; in doing so, I noticed that you booked through a 3rd party website. We have diligently worked with 3rd party sites, to ensure the most accurate and up-to-date information about Courtyard Grand Rapids Downtown is available for guests who chose to book rooms with us in this manner. However, as I checked out the website you booked through, I see that our information is available and correct, listed under that 3rd parties “Fees & Policies” section for our hotel, it does clearly list “Self parking costs USD 29 per night with in/out privileges”.Here at Courtyard, we do try to minimize additional costs for our guests. Due to our location in a downtown area, space for parking is extremely limited throughout the city. Each parking structure does have a fee, as this a standard throughout downtown. Our parking, at a rate of 29 per night, is not only the lowest in the area, but our guests also have in & out privileges and can enter and exit as they please, without incurring an additional fee. Again, thank you for your feed back; I truly am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations!I do hope that, should your travels bring you back to the Grand Rapids area, just let our Guest Care team know you would prefer a room on the quieter, river side of the hotel. While we can not guarantee its availability, we will do our level best to assist you in any way we are able, to ensure that you have a better stay next time!

We had a wonderful breakfast with top notch service at The Bistro. Great location with easy walking distance to the Van Andel via skywalk or on street sidewalks. Front desk personnel were helpful upon checkout but were not so at check in. When we inquired about pool hours prior to our arrival; they shared that the pool was closed for renovation. When I shared how disappointed our grandchildren would be, they shared that we could use the pool at the Amway Grand Hotel. Upon arrival they seemed confused and shared that their pool was open but did not share how to access it. When I called to inquire about the pool’s location, the response was second floor. I asked if it would obvious where the pool was on that floor. The response was “if you had trouble finding it, there was something wrong with you”. One of the two rooms we booked were provided with breakfast vouchers. Our second room was not but the front desk supervisor made it right after my inquiry.

Booked this room for a concert and Van Andel. When we got there, we found out there was a skywalk from the hotel directly to the arena. Made it really easy to get in and out for our event.
