Nice property with good location. Not friendly for foreign visitors. Everything in German with no translation. Only one menus for dinner. Take it or leave it no dinner food options. Menu in German only
Excellent hotel, very cosy and clean. The food was great, room is clean and quiet with comfortable bed, and the view is fantastic. Great location near Lake Eibsee and Zugspitze. Highly reommended
Very traditonal hotel with an excellent view of the moutains. We took the dinner at the hotel and the food and service was on the top of my list also.
Should ask for a room facing the mountain.
Stayed here for 4 days and 3 nights. I paid almost £200/day for the room but I reckon I could get a nicer and bigger room somewhere else. The location of the hotel was great however the room was so small, especially the bathroom. The receptionist who received me was very kind and even accompanied me to my room however, the other lady was quite rude and sarcastic. I politely asked her where I could get some ice as I just came from outside and it was very hot and she said in an irritated voice "go there (pointing to the restaurant), you see I dont have ice here."
Overall, it was okay but wouldnt come back or recommend.

Amazing stay here. Absolutely beautiful hotel. Cozy and homey. Gorgeous views of the Zugspitze from our balcony. Delicious meals included. Kind and helpful staff. Couldn't ask for more!
What a great place! Fantastic views, great food, super nice staff. And the room? They had set up a cute bed and rearranged the ante room for our 5 year old - in advance! And it was so nice for us that he had his own “room”. Highly recommended.
Amazing property, waking up and seeing the Zugspitze from your Balcony or while having breakfast. Easy parking, comfortable and spacious rooms and great staff.

Enjoyed our stay here in the November off-season. Room was clean and tidy and the breakfast spread plentiful! Pool was the perfect size for children and they loved the fountain. Remarkably the hot tub was only "warm" at best. Pool was well maintained as they cleaned it each morning.
Grainau was a charming little town with many shops, cafes and restaurants - the majority of which were closed when we were there, it being the off season and all.
Was surprised that we were charged for parking on the lot, given the non-urban location of the hotel.

Hi Tim! Thank you so much for your good feedback to your stay. We would be happy, we can welcome you again at Romantik Alpenhotel Waxenstein. Best regards, have a good time!
The double pull-out sofabed was a bit hard but, other than that, the room was great! The included breakfast buffet was also very good and everyone was very friendly. I would definitely stay there again.
This is a beautiful hotel nestled in the German Alps. The hotel itself is clean, well suited to its surroundings and staffed with people who strive to please. In the evening we sat out on the back porch and enjoyed a glass of wine. As the sun set we were immediately offered warm blankets to keep us comfortable.
The hotel is surrounded by incredible trails for hiking and biking. The trails are all well marked and incredibly well maintained. The hotel loans out bikes for those who are travelling without.
The small town of Grainau is very close by and offers access to the Zugspitze as well as the Eibsee.
This hotel is definitely worth a stay if you are in the area.

After a long journey we were delighted to check into this hotel. The staff was extraordinarily helpful and friendly, the meals were OUTSTANDING, and our room was exceptionally clean and well appointed. The bed was so cozy and the amenities were a welcome relief after a very active day. Wish we had booked out stay for longer. Highly recommend.

Dear Virginia! We are very happy about your feedback! Thank you so much for staying at our hotel. Looking forward to welcome you again! Best regards
The woman who checked us in and out was very pleasant but the other front desk staff were not helpful, not friendly, bordering on rude. Our room didn't have a tv remote for the first 2 nights and it seemed to annoy the front desk when we asked about it. Not knowledgeable or interested in discussing local sights.
The restaurant and cleaning service on the other hand were always friendly and accommodating. If all the service had been like that the experience would have been much better.
Not a luxury hotel but room was comfortable.
Best part of the hotel is 5 star view of the Zugspitze which can be seen from certain areas and from our superior room. Outstanding sight to greet your day.

Thank you for your helpful feedback. We are sorry that you can not always enjoy the friendliness as it is standard with us. It is all the more pleasing to us that you could fully enjoy the amenities of the hotel. We wish you a good time.
Perfect location to do day trips from. As well as beautiful amenities such as restaurant, bar, Pool, Hot tub, sauna and steam room. So if you choose not to leave the hotel, everything you would need is there
The hotel is located in the most beautiful scenery and that is sufficient for a great stay. Add to that the high class facility and the wonderful service offered by the staff, especially by Dagmar &Petra at the reception and you have the best recipe for a great holiday. I highly recommend this hotel.
We had such a wonderful time that we extended our stay. Rooms are spaceous and very comfortable with balcony and stunning views of the mountains.
The staff was always helpful and dinner was outstanding.
We also enjoyed the pool and steam room. I wish we could have stayed longer, definitely a great spot for all kinds of travellers.
Very nice hotel overlooking the mountains. Very friendly and welcoming personnel. Cosy rooms and very clean. Cant ask for more! NB: please allow a plenty of time for dinner. It is a bit of a slow eating type of setting.
What a fantastic place in a wonderful location! Friendly staff, great food with wonderful mountain views. Strongly recommended! We shall return! You can not beat the price value offering by taking half board!
The food was excellent, indoor pool and easy access to trails, lifts and train. I would pick the Waxenstein and the Town Grainau to stay over Garmisch.
Had a great time here. Hotel is lovely, very well maintained, and staff is very helpful. View from our balcony was terrific. Only issue was that the staff at the desk really wasn't very helpful in terms of providing us advice on hiking and other outdoor activities in the area, but we were able to get that info from the Tourist Office. We definitely preferred staying here (slightly out-of-town) relative to staying in Garmish-P. Only comment is the place is a little tough to find. Either bring a GPS (which we did and it got us there perfectly) or plan on calling the hotel to get accurate directions (they speak excellent English).
