The most gracious host we have ever been blessed to meet. She doesn’t rent rooms, she honors and warms guests into her home. All the positive reviews are completely warranted. Incredible stay!

Thank you so much for the lovely review. Weenjoyed having you here.Happy New Year, Joanie and Petunia
An absolutely beautiful historic home with wonderful pieces of art. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean. The breakfast was amazing. Wonderful quiche, muffins, ham, fruit, and more. The owner has a fascinating history and is very gracious and generous. It was a wonderful stay and we look forward to returning.
I highly recommend staying at this charming bed and breakfast. The hostess, Joan, was very friendly, helpul and accommodating. The inn is in a great location within walking distance of the downtown with views of the harbor. Parking is easy and the breakfast was very good.
We were so glad we picked this Inn, it was perfect in every way, from the comfy bed, to the decor, to the wonderful breakfast. But most of all, Joanie, the host, was friendly, knowledgeable and told us so much about the area! We truly enjoyed our stay, and highly recommend it!
We really enjoyed staying at this property and expecially enjoyed the hospitality of the owner. This is a beautiful, historic property within walking distance of downtown Gloucester. The owner served an outstanding breakfast each morning. We will stay at this B&B on our next visit to the area.
Joan is an absolute peach, her rooms are kept very clean and has many little extra touches not seen in chain inns. Joan makes you feel like you have been part of her family all along even if it's the first time meeting you. Do yourself a favor and stay here, the park across the street is something to explore!!
Joanne was the perfect hostess. I couldn’t of been more pleased with this rental. She claims only a continental breakfast but went on to prepare rice how much for quiche. She offered many insights into Gloucester, as well as dining and tourist recommendations. She was there to greet us when we came in. She made sure we had a parking spot right in front of her home. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. I will definitely stay in the same place. Should we go back to Gloucester.
Very attentive and flexible hostess. The Hydrangea Inn is a little gem of a place and it's owner a gem of a person. Joan is well travelled and happy to share her adventures with you, but only if you want to lend an ear . She is respectful of your privacy and had you treat her home as yours
Joanie was a spectacular host - happy to come back again any time!

We hope that you will be back with us again, and take advantage of some of the Schooner rides and the whale watching take care of yourselves, and thank you again for choosing the Hydrangea Inn.
The hostess Joan was great. She was very nice and helpful with travel plans in the area. She fixes a wonderful breakfast each morning that will leave you full and ready for the day. I would definitely stay there again and recommend anyone I knew to stay there as well.

What a kind and wonderful review. It was a joy to meet you both and to have you in our home. Enjoy all your wonderful travels and please keep in touch. With you with warmest regards and gratitude.
Joanie was an amazing host. She opened her beautiful family home to a bed and breakfast. She greeted us outside when we arrived, had a parking spot reserved right in front and showed us to our room. In the morning she prepared an amazing, healthy, delicious breakfast. She is quite personable and we enjoyed sitting with her and chatting over breakfast. If you would prefer your privacy, she respects that. The location is perfect Beautiful water view from our room and a 15 minute walk to town. The hydrangea Inn was truly a special find for us and we will be returning.

Great location within Gloucester and a good option if you’re on a budget. But property was run more like a casual AirBnB than an inn. Was not clear from the listing that our bathroom would be separate from our room and was not entirely private. Also we nearly got locked into the bathroom when the knob kept coming off the door.

If you check the conversation on Expedia you will see that I clearly advises you that the king size room with lovely art work had an adjacent bathroom. The bedding which I have collected during my extensive travel is far from casual. With regard to the door knob, there was nothing wrong with it. Please check the conversation before your visit on Expedia. Thank you and good luck in finding a place better suited for you.My goal is to have a lovely Victorian Inn with all the furnishings and artwork in keeping with the period . Best of luck to you!
Our stay at The Hydrangea Inn was fantastic! My daughter and I had a fabulous stay in Gloucester because of where we stayed. The owner could not have been more welcoming or helpful. She was very informative about the area and so fun to talk to and get to know. The rooms were beautiful and very comfortable. Can't wait to go back!

Thank you so very much for your wonderful review. It was a pleasure having you here and we do hope you that you will be back again. I really enjoyed our talks in the morning. Best of luck in all your travels, and then everything you do with warm regards and gratitude.
A hydrangea inn is truly a diamond in the rough. The owner, Joan is attentive, sweet, and respectful. She was sure to keep us informed of when should be in and out of the house to ensure our safety of our items, as well as to ensure that we didn’t have any unmet needs. She made a beautiful breakfast each morning and was very attentive during those meals as well. She truly made us feel like family just staying with an aunt and I highly recommend everybody go and meet her and see her beautiful home and love and cherish it just the way she does. Also, her dog petunia is just the cutest thing ever.

I cannot find the words to thank you for this wonderful review. Needless to say, we do hope that you will be back again. It is important to us that you not only enjoy the Inn but also the rich and glorious history of Gloucester. It was just delightful to have you here and I really loved all of our discussions. Good luck in all your travels, and please come back and see us!
This is a wonderful property B/B with a fabulous attending hostess. Easy parking and breakfast was over the top wonderful. Easy access to all surrounding areas. Bedrooms are upstairs. FABULOUS!
This was an amazing stay. The B&B was exceptionally clean. Lots of space in the rooms. Very nice place to stay. Walking distance to harbor is literally across the street. Fisherman’s Memorial 5 minute walk. Miss Joanie was warm and inviting. She went above and beyond. I have major allergies to certain foods and she accommodated that so I could enjoy breakfast with my family. Side note: I loved the natural soaps she provided. Very very sweet hostess. We will definitely be back.

Joanie was the perfect host. She made an amazing breakfast for us! The location was perfect. We really enjoyed our stay at her charming Inn and hope to return in warmer weather. Thanks again Joanie!
We had the most wonderful weekend getaway at the Hydrangea Inn! Our host was thoughtful and attentive, and went the extra mile by sharing tips about the neighborhood and suggesting restaurants and activities nearby. The Inn was very cozy and quaint - just a few rooms - with lots of sweet personal touches (coffee machine and beverages in room, books, brochures and information about the area). The view from our bedroom window was exactly what you see in the Inn's cover photo - a sunrise over the water right across the street! Highly recommend this place for a couple's or family getaway.
We had a lovely visit. Joan was terrific, the room was lovely, and we enjoyed several walks along the waterfront and the park across the street. We enjoyed our conversations and THANK YOU for the wonderful breakfasts that fit our dietary restrictions.
The property is beautifully located. There is a small park in front and a great view of the water with a nice walking path past a couple of memorials. It’s about a 1 mile hike up to the center of town but you can drive it in five minutes. The property itself was extremely clean. The owner goes around after hours and sterilizes all the public places. The room was very eclectic, reflecting the taste of the owner.
An older home, but wonderfully restored. Although we were only two people, the breakfasts were enough to feed a family(and delicious).
If you are fortunate enough to sit and talk with the owner, she has had an amazing life and could keep you entertained for hours with her stories. If not, she does respect your privacy.
Overall, it was a great place to stay for us to see the local area. I would stay there again on my next trip to Gloucester.
Joan is an extremely gracious host. She loves her B&B and it shows. She makes every guest feel as welcome as possible. Great location and the house is immaculate!
This was a first class experience. Joan was so solicitous of our needs and she provided a standout breakfast. Bed was very comfortable and there was a. view from the bed to boot.
The hospitality and attention to details of the hostess were exceptional. She made our stay in Gloucester all the more pleasant! Not to mention her delicious breakfasts!
This is the beautiful old home of the owner who renovated this beautiful home keeping its period charm. It is across from the harbour and walking distance to many sites. Joan the owner is a joy and a great cook. She makes big, heart breakfasts that are a joy. You become part of her family. It is a magical place.
Joanie was a doll and she treated us like family! I really enjoyed staying with her and would come back if I was ever again in the area! It was clean, comfortable and quaint. Her service in the morning for breakfast was delightful! I have dietary restrictions and she went out of her way to make sure I had plenty to eat. Her inn is right in front of the harbor and you can’t beat the view you get. Just absolutely lovely.
We used Joan and The Hydrangea Inn for a one night birthday getaway and everything was great. Communication was easy, we had a parking spot with a pass right outside the inn. So conveniently located- we walked into town at night and it was only about a 10 min drive to the beach. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was whatever time we wanted with an assortment of fruit, pastries and quiche and coffee or tea with juices and water. We would stay again for one night or longer!
It was like visiting an old friend. Joanie was warm and welcoming. The house was her childhood home and she cares for it and her guests as if they were precious family
The location was great. The owner, Joanie, is friendly, accommodating and welcoming.
The suite was very comfortable
A wonderful stay overall

Perfect, charming inn; great host; ideal location!
What a lovely place! Joanie is as sweet and helpful as can be, and provides a huge breakfast. Our suite was so charming and welcoming and comfortable. The entire house oozes with charm. It was Joanie's parents' home, and is beautifully decorated and restored. The location is perfect for a relaxing vacation. We will be back.
Our host Joani was simply amazing accommodating and made our trip extra special her home is beautiful clean right in the center of things within walking distance of the beach.

We loved our stay at the Hydrangea Inn and especially enjoyed meeting our hostess Joan. The food was excellent and the place is very clean - taking all covid precautions. We really enjoyed our conversations with Joan and her knowledge of the area and it's rich history. We appreciate her sharing her lovely historic home with us and we would definitely recommend to others.
Hands down, this was one the best bed-and-breakfast places I've ever stayed in. Host was wonderful. Breakfast was delicious and filling for the whole day. The location is directly across the park and ocean promenade. I would highly recommend it.
