It is typical Alaska. Beautiful and remote. There is a local IGA grocery store but the prices are a little steep. I would suggest a grocery run in Anchorage prior to the trip

Didn’t realize the room we rented was not located in the large log-cabin lodge pictured on the website. Rooms are in a separate building; they’re are old and outdated; our carpet had not been vacuumed. The room smelled musty and unclean.
