Highly recommended

We had an absolutely lovely stay at the Boclair - the building is a lovely art deco style building. Very clean, great room and a lovely breakfast. The staff were all lovely and very friendly. We had a great chat with Brendan on the front desk and we would highly recommend the hotel.

Art-Deco with a modern twist

Amazing suite (we stayed in the Arran/ Honeymoon suite), exquisitely decorated in a golden Art Deco style with a supremely comfortable bed. The unique bathroom with a sky-high ceiling at about 7m is equipped with a rainfall shower and mood-lighting. In the winter though the bathroom can be a bit chilly. Furthermore, the deep-soaking bathtub in the room is the perfect addition to the entire experience, especially with the built-in TV/radio system next to it. Other amenities include tea-making facilities (with a good selection) and also a separate coffee machine with included capsules. The bar area is also worth mentioning, especially when it comes to the wide selection of drinks and friendly staff. Moreover, congratulations are warranted for the interior designer for choosing Alphonse Mucha prints to put everywhere in sight. Breakfast had a wide variety of delicious hot food. We especially appreciated the hard-boiled poached eggs and their use in various dishes. Furthermore, both the "Black Pudding Stack" and the "Halloumi & Eggs" were great twists on the regular Eggs Benedict resulting in remarkable flavour and texture. We also took a peek into the ballroom area and, even without the wedding decorations, it looks inviting and festive. Overall, even though Boclair House has been operating as a hotel for a few years now, everything looks and feels brand new and we are already thinking about returning to try out the other rooms as well.

Luxurious Hotel

We stayed in the Stroma room for our honeymoon. It was amazing! The bathroom was especially nice with the jacuzzi, waterfall shower, and mirror T.V. The staff was exceptionally friendly. Room service was great. Would definitely stay again.

This is a lovely little place. There is no restaurant. There are no amenities to speak of. If you just need a clean, quaint, luxurious feeling stay, I'd recommend it. If you need all the services then maybe no. I enjoyed it. I'd stay again.

Beautiful hotel outside city center

This is an excellent hotel, beautifully designed and finished. The only meal offered for less than groups of 10 is breakfast, however they also offer a well-stocked bar. The location is a short train journey outside the city center so don't expect to walk there. However for a pampered stay this property cannot be beat.

This is a gem of a hotel, beautiful inside and out, the staff were super friendly and helpful in picking no a place for dinner. The room was large, really clean and comfortable. The bathroom was so nice we want to change one at home to be the same. Breakfast was very good. Everything at his hotel was excellent, would definitely stay again.

Lovely But Beware of Special Events

Gorgeous historic mansion beautifully restored to its full period glamour but with all modern conveniences! We had such high hopes upon check in and were wowed by the room itself.... but that night we were kept awake by the very loud music and DJ in the ballroom below ... then when the event finally ended there were people (and children?) running up and down the stairs and the hallways outside our room until something like 2 AM... and we had a plane to catch that morning so needless to say did not sleep well. We understand that you want to host weddings and other events but there needs to be some consideration for regular guests too. I could not get a drink in the bar because of the event guests who had priority... and there was no security to keep event guests from running amuck... very unfortunate experience.

Lovely little bed and breakfast, only saying that as there is no restaurant for the evening however they are set up to allow you to get things delivered and eat in your room. Fantastic rooms, well presented and well decorated. Only issue we had was that the mattress seemed a little soft but other than that the room was excellent. Breakfast room was a little on the dark side but it is a fantastic place to stay.

Amazing hotel in lovely grounds. The only reason for giving good rather than exceptional was that a conference the following day, in effect closed down the bar and restaurant, which did effect our overall experience

Great Country House Hotel

Beautiful hotel lovely garden, attention to detail. Enjoyed our stay in this lovely place, it would be a super location for a wedding or function. I missed not having restaurant facilities although a booking was made for us at an excellent Italian restaurant in the locale.

Hôtel exceptionnel par son confort, sa décoration, son raffinement! Nous avons adoré le bâtiment (19è siècle, la déco art déco, le confort exceptionnel des chambres, le salon cosy, le petit déjeuner très bon, copieux et raffiné, l'accueil très sympathique et discret. Une excellente adresse à recommander! Parking gratuit. L'hôtel est situé à 5mn à pied d'une station de train qui rejoint le centre ville en 20 à 30 mn. (3£70/ trajet).

Rounds, public spaces, restaurant & bedrooms all pristine and sumptuously finished. Food in restaurant was pretty average at best and overpriced for standard of cooking & ingredients - but was saved by nice staff and ambience
