There is no doubt this is a stunning hotel. The room was modern and very clean with a relaxing ambiance and the bed was very comfortable.
Our check in process was good and although at 4 pm our room wasn’t ready, the lovely young man who checked us in addressed this by offering us a complimentary drink at the bar.
Breakfast, all I can say is avoid! I hate saying this but it was possibly the worst breakfast experience we have ever had anywhere. We arrived 45 minutes before close of breakfast and what we were met with was horrendous. The bain maries were half empty and what was left was cold and dried up. I couldn’t put my teeth through the potato scone! The serving spoons were coated in egg and beans which was also all over the counter top. The fruit plates and yogurt bowls were empty and not refilled the whole time we were there. The coffee and tea station (urns) had no mugs, or earl grey teabags, I had to ask for both, and the coffee urns were empty. The bread for toasting and croissants had not been filled and for the bread I did manage to toast there was no butter available. I addressed my issues with the supervisor who was flabbergasted when I asked if breakfast was always this bad, her response being “why what’s wrong with it”! When she did take the time to actually go and look at what was on offer to the guests she came and apologised to us stating she was mortified at the state of it. She refunded us, but truthfully, I’d rather have had an exceptional breakfast!
