The staff could do better
Hotel itself was good. The staff could use a training session in friendliness and courtesy. The key card did not work for the elevator and had to come back to the front desk, but not even am apology. Pretty much every staff we came in contact with were curt and no smiles.

경포 해변 바로 앞이라서 전망 좋고 주변 식당 걸어서 갈 수 있어서 좋았어요:) 지하 주차장이 협소한 것만 빼면, 직원분들 서비스도 좋고 호캉스로 너무 좋아요!!

We love to walk so the area was perfect for a really nice lake or beach walk. We went in early October so the weather was good for walks. The lake view from our room really nice too. The rooms were a little run down. Wallpaper was peeling off but the room was generally clean. They also don’t provide toothbrushes but there’s a vending machine that sells them if you didn’t bring one.

Lovely
The location is beautiful and so are the common areas. I was located in the south tower facing the lake. The view was lovely, but you can hear loud noises from the room next door and halls. The furniture in the room was a bit worn, but everything was very clean. I didn't swim in the pool, but I did enjoy the view. I originally paid for the entry as part of my package thinking I'd need to pay to even see the view, but that's not the case. Definitely recommend going up to lounge. The hotel is also conveniently located near the tourist information office, so if you want to book a tourist taxi it's perfect for that. Overall it's worth booking.

오션뷰가 진짜 멋지고 루프탑 수영장도 좋아요. 단점은 엘레베이터 기다리는게 정말 심하네요. 먼가 시스템에 문제가 있는듯

Great location if there were more buses...
The rooms were amazing. There was also a jacuzzi per room but because we visited during winter we couldn't use it since the water would freeze. It's very near to the beach and the lake but the buses that pass by are scarce. Check the bus schedules ahead of time otherwise you might bet stranded.

The view was AMAZING! Even the Lake View I think would be amazing. Compliments to the staff helping us checkin on 3rd Jan 2023 at around 8pm (3 of them). They were super friendly and took really good care of us. We got an Ocean View room on the 18th floor and had no regrets staying here for 4 nights. The only con is with the need to pay for pool access and they don't provide room slippers although you can get them cheap downstairs at just 1,500KRW. This place is also SUPER convenient, you should try BHC and Euroko Pizza if you're a tourist. It'd also be great if you drive and can head out to other Cafes and places.

The view was great. I strongly recommend an ocean view. It was relaxing and nice. This hotel is a good place to stay off-season because the parking space is small. The waiting time for check-in is longer than I expected.

This hotel is located by the sea side,so We can access to the beach directly from the hotel. The morning sunrise is very beautiful and we can walk around this area so romantically. Nice rooms with ocean view and breakfast buffet is remarkable.

It was an amazing experience in Korea. This hotel has the best view and scenery in the area. It’s an oceanfront hotel which has the lake in the back. Our room is an oceanview on the 17th floor. We felt like sleeping over the sea. The hotel staff are friendly and very attentive. There are so many things to do at the hotel. You can rent a beach parasol for free until 6 pm. The infinity pool was an amayas well. It was very beautiful and fascinating scenery in the morning. Overall, it was one of my favourite experiences I had in Korea and definitely want to go back if I visit Korea again.

Skybay hotel is a commercial hotel at its worst. The executive room which we booked was small, dark and the ocean view was limited. Staff are fine just not particularly attentive. Everything about the hotel is transactional and about profit and not customer experience. For $200 a night I would not expect to have to pay an extra $1 for hotel slippers. But this gives you an indication of just how the hotel operates. An additional $30 for the swimming pool, additional costs just to use the sauna. Breakfast was mediocre at best. It really left a very bitter taste in our mouths on our last day at Gangneung. Do not stay here unless a tourist trap is what you are looking for.

No disappointments on the choice
Third time at Skybay - now this is my go to hotel for when Gangneung. On my first stay a year ago I got an upgraded to a upper level corner room which has the best ocean view among all Gangneung hotels. The second time I needed a two bed so didn't go for the corner room but this last time I got myself a room where it was perfect to watch the first sunrise of the lunar new year. :)
