"After reading other reviews and looking at pictures, we were very disappointed by our stay here. Upon arrival at the property, we had to wait to be greeted. When We walked into the property, all of the curtains were shut, and it was very dark and had a strange vibe. When we were shown to our room, it was in a bleak state. "great location great room great staff. OK breakfast. because you are here to see elephants, the views are amazing. the best hotel for that. the room and the bathroom was also practical and we were able to rest here while visiting places. Food ofcoruse is mainly local and some western. But thats because its a main attraction for local and Asian visitors. we loved our stay."

"Grand hills kandy a very comfortable, beautiful and stylish boutique hotel kandy with absolutely magnificent views out over the magnificent surrounding middle of the jungle... We were very well looked after by the very helpful staff who provided all that was needed, communication with manger was excellen.The property is on a hill and you can have an amazing view from the balcony overlooking the green mountains and the waterfalls, Food served at the restaurant was tasty. The breakfast buffet spread was huge. excellent location for visiting Kandy. it was a real pleasure to stay here one night was far too short a time and i would love to return. Highly recommended.❤️"

"Fantastic mountain top resort hotel. Comfortable suites, great staff and nice restaurant. Access can be tricky as the road is very narrow and challenging to navigate even for local taxi and tuk drivers. But once you get to the place it is paradise on earth!"

"I try to write fair, detailed reviews as I rely on them myself when choosing properties. Mountbatten appealed to me for its heritage positioning and proximity to Kandy’s historical centre, and in many ways it delivered. Location & Atmosphere – 5★ The setting is exceptional: tranquil, elevated, surrounded by greenery, and beautifully maintained. The infinity pool is stunning and the staff are very mindful of guests seeking quiet. It genuinely feels peaceful. Service – 5★ Warm, attentive and polished throughout. The team clearly cares and service is consistently strong. Rooms – 4★ I stayed in the main bungalow (last-minute booking), not in one of the standalone jungle lodges, which look beautiful. My room was comfortable with strong AC and a spacious bathroom, though certain finishes could benefit from cosmetic updates. Food – 4★ Breakfast is good if you choose wisely. Coffee, however, does not match five-star standards. The main issue was menu consistency: several dishes did not fully match their written descriptions, and ingredients listed were sometimes missing. Communication between kitchen and menu needs tightening. Overall, Mountbatten has outstanding foundations — location, tranquility and service. With improved kitchen execution and small refinements, it could easily move from very good to exceptional. I would return — especially to try one of the lodges. "
