320$ for a sleepless night in Hampton Inn!
Our stay at the Hampton Inn Downtown Gainesville was truly awful. My family and I couldn’t sleep the entire night due to extremely loud noise coming from the street—people shouting, music blasting from cars. The hotel is located right across the street from several restaurants/bars, and the noise carries all the way up to the top floor, where we were staying. That’s how loud it was.
The police showed up once and the music stopped briefly, but it started right back up again. I had to get up at 3 a.m. to call the front desk and ask them to call the police again. This back-and-forth went on for most of the night. We were exhausted and frustrated. I had to eventually play sleep meditation music in a loud volume to cancel out the pounding noise a little bit to take a quick nap during the night.
We paid $320 for a night of little rest, and the worst part? The hotel refused to offer any refund or compensation. At any other hotel I’ve stayed at, when something this disruptive happens, they’re quick to take responsibility and at least offer a partial refund or credit. Not here.
I am not sure that night, if everyone else is sleeping with an earphone on, or if they just gave up calling the front desk. But if you are someone like me, who can't fall asleep during a rock concert, avoid this place at all cost!
