The hotel is very old fasion. The food in both breakfast and dinner was very dissapointing - not wjat would you expect from a 5 stars hotel. The air conditionin the room was noisy. Check-oit took a lot of time. The staff in the reception was not so kind.

We stayed here for 10 nights and on the whole we enjoyed our stay. The location is fabulous, right on the coast, the gardens and grounds were lovely and well maintained. The rooms were big, and nice balcony and outlook. The cleanliness of the hotel was superb, I’ve never seen such a clean pool area, loved being in the pool! Cleaning of room was great and friendly staff. 2 negatives that have to be stated to give a true reflection of the hotel… the food is definitely sub par, we had the buffet 2 nights and 3 nights in the Al a carte dining. Only one of which was decent. We ate out the last 5 nights. The breakfast is ok, but nothing special. It has to be stated otherwise people may be disappointed with this being branded as a 5 star, the food is probably 3 star at best. The other minor issue was that the beds were relatively soft, however this is more personal preference than anything else. Overall don’t expect a 5 star but we were prepared for it being more 4 star than 5,l star, we did enjoy our stay once we had decided we would have our evening meals out with the hotel.

We had a good stay, the reception staff are very welcoming and friendly. Room was clean and there was plenty of spare towels, pillows etc. We went on half board basis. Although there was plenty of food, it lacked taste. Buffet menu needs to improve, especially the hot food for vegetarians. Very insipid. Also we felt cheated because we asked for tap water at dinner and got charged for it! The head waiter takes the order for drinks and we felt it was his duty to inform customers that they charge even for tap water! It is ironical that they give free prosecco and at breakfast, but charge for water at dinner!! Customers can make an informed decision about ordering water if the hotel can make them aware of their charges. Overall, the staff are hard working and try very hard to do their best. Not a bad place to stay but be prepared to pay for your water at dinner!

Das Personal war durchgehend freundlich! Das Essen entsprach nicht einem 5 Sterne Hotel. Die Liegen am Pool waren teilweise kaputt. Die Betten sind durchgelegen. Das Zimmer und das Bad sind angenehm groß. Der Balkon lädt zum verweilen ein.

L’emplacement est idéal et l’endroit très calme. Le personnel est professionnel et accueillant. Dans l’ensemble, l’hôtel est agréable, mais nous ne pensons pas qu’il mérite pleinement ses 5 étoiles. Lors des douches, la température de l’eau variait brusquement entre très chaud et très froid. Par ailleurs, les serviettes n’étaient pas toujours changées, et la nourriture, correcte, manquait parfois de saveur. Malgré cela, nous avons adoré notre séjour à Madère ; simplement, nous estimons que l’hôtel ne correspond pas tout à fait au standing attendu d’un établissement 5 étoiles

Eine angenehme Unterkunft mit grossen Zimmern

Ein riesen Hotelkomplex, wie es heutzutage viele gibt in Madeira. Vorwiegend in Funchal und Umgebung. Die Zimmereinrichtung in diesem Hotel ist grosszügig. Leider kann man das vom Restaurant nicht behaupten. Die Bestuhlung ist sehr eng was sich bei einer hohen Belegung des Hotels ziemlich negativ auswirkt. Das Personal ist korrekt. Aber mehr nicht.

Cet hôtel a une très belle vue sur l'océan. Il y a un restaurant buffet pour le soir ou la possibilité de réserver un des 3 restaurants thématiques (inclus dans le prix). Les boissons sont en supplément. Le parking souterrain est à 10 euros la nuit. L'hôtel n'est pas trop loin du centre-ville et il y a une promenade piétonne devant.

Title: Disappointing Stay with Poor Service Our experience at Pestana Grand Hotel was disappointing from the very first day. We had a serious issue with noise in our room caused by the hotel’s flags flapping loudly in the wind. When we called reception to report it, we were told they couldn’t remove the flags. Additionally, one day our room was not cleaned. When we called reception to report this, we were told it was “impossible” and assured someone would come by with fresh towels. However, no one showed up, and I had to call reception again to get the issue resolved. For a hotel that markets itself as a high-quality establishment, these service failures were unacceptable. Unfortunately, the lack of responsiveness and poor handling of issues made our stay far less enjoyable than we had hoped.

Not a 5-star hotel. Staff bored of their work, and you can see and feel it. Sometimes arguing and are loud even when guests are around. Most guests elderly, this hotel is not for younger people. The food they serve at the restaurantes, except bits of the breakfast, are a joke. Its horrible! Ordered a risotto, but got a soup with hard rice. At breakfast, the chef making omelettes and eggs, only used one pan instead of making more omelettes at once? Saving money for the hotel? It made people stand in line for a long time. In bed plastic covers under the sheets, as you for children. Very uncomfortable. There are other things to use if you want to protect the madrasses. Bed linen old and washed down. Facilities nice, but to small for all guests. Rooms very plain and simple, not a luxury feeling. Bathroom, the walls in the shower, have they ever been cleaned? Got a new room after first night, because my room smelled of mould, proberbly from the wall behind the bed. Nice of the reception to change, thank you! The hotel, because of the facilities, is ranked as a 5-star, but its not in reality. Stayed earlier at Pestana Promenad, which is a 4-star ranked hotel, but in reality it is better than Pestana Grand. And the staff is realy nice and welcoming!
