COVID-19 has resulted in big changes to the way we travel. If you're planning a trip to Fuerteventura, the following tips will help you navigate these new traveling challenges:

• Before you lock in a flight, see if any travel restrictions apply — in both your origin and destination. Keep informed with the latest updates by reviewing government and airport websites.
• Wear a face mask during airport screening. A TSA employee will require you to lower your mask temporarily for identification purposes.
• Do not hand your boarding pass (electronic or paper) directly to a TSA employee. Instead, position your pass on the reader and then hold it up for the agent to visually inspect it.
• You are now allowed to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your hand luggage. You'll need to remove it for X-ray scanning.
• Empty everything from your pockets, such as your wallet, coins and keys, and put them in your carry-on rather than the bins. This will reduce handling during the screening process.
• Transport any food items in a clear plastic bag and also place them in a screening bin. Keeping your food separate from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA agent will need to touch and open your bag for inspection.
