"When we arrived we were somewhat surprised when we were directed across the street from the resort. Turns out There are about 6 one room units , some with kitchens( our wasn’t) with its own pool located there. That Wasn’t a problem and it’s a very nice room. However, we were also not aware it was “clothing optional”.At times there were guests who were nude (not us lol).
The clothing optional was not a big deal to and we don’t spent much time at our room anyway. We prefer the beach and Sand Castle has a beautiful one.
Was not crazy about the restaurant (there is just the one) and it is very pricey. The only items we enjoyed on the menu were the Smash burger ($20 and a garden salad with chicken $30). Both were very good. Beers were $6 and mixed drinks $12-$14.
We weren’t aware they served brunch on weekends. During the week you get a complimentary continental breakfast consisting of a cinnamon roll, Titi bread, coconut drop cookie, slice of cheese, hard boiled egg, an orange or apple, juice and Kureg coffee.
We rented a car and bought our alcohol at the local super market. It was also EXTREMELY expensive but still cheaper than the resort bar. You are provided a little cooler and there is an ice machine so we’d load it up and take it to the beach.
Not impressed with Fredricksted, Christiansted is bigger and has a board walk with more shops. And much better restaurants.
Overall we were happy with Sand Castle and would consider staying there again should we return."
"I think putting resort in the name of this hotel was deceiving. Most resorts have amenities and many options of things you can do around a facility. This one had absolutely nothing other than a bar downstairs that had horrible coffee and at best, mid grade food. The prices were very high and it was just not accommodating for guests. I would not recommend this hotel because there’s nothing in the vicinity to do or to eat. It is not a resort. It is a hotel/inn. If I had to do it all over again, I would choose another place to stay.
I gave a rating of three because there was a beautiful view from the room and the room was somewhat tidy."
"We read some pretty bad reviews. I have no idea what they were talking about. We loved the staff, the food was great, the bartenders went out of their way to give you a fun and engaging experience. We met amazing people. The location was secluded and wonderful. Clean and functional. If we needed something all we had to do was ask. Would 10/10 recommend. "
"The staff was helpful from start to finish. Having a washing machine and dryer for free was a nice surprise. The bar was a nice quiet bonus at the end of a busy day!
And the location was close to everything, but still a block away on a quiet street."
