We had a wonderful stay. The room was very comfortable, dinner was delicious and so beautiful! We loved being able to walk on the palace grounds and saw the most gorgeous sunset over the water. We enjoyed everything about our stay.
Nice room With good bed. Excellent dinner with superb fisk and nicely fried beef.

Location location
Great location next to the castle so convenient for a sightseeing, free parking, good breakfast, terrace with the view. But, the room, deluxe, was very basic with no accessories at all, no fridge, no coffeemaker, un-matching furniture, old squeaky floor, not nice looking as on the photos. At least was not expensive. The diner at the restaurant was very good but very expensive. However, I would stay again due to the good price.
Location is ideal. The complimentary breakfast is very good, plenty of variety and choices. The hotel has a certain charm which is most enjoyable. The staff are very positive and friendly. Regarding the breakfast a plain baguette would be a welcome addition. The only real negative is that when there is a function or special event it does get very noisy.

Good location… but that‘s it
Unfortunately we don‘t know any other Danish hotel to compare to. This one is impersonal, lacks facilities like a kettle, free water, glasses. Taking a shower sets the whole bathroom under water, flooding the entire floor. A simple sheet on the bed which is too small to cover the mattress. Soap container in bathroom empty; toilet dirty, so was floor. Cleaning is certainly not a forte in this place. Dinner was okay, service a little absent minded. Breakfast truly buffet style, meaning no tables laid out… one doesn’t feel very welcome. Reception not really interested or welcoming. We had to climb up the second floor with our cases, weren‘t told there is a lift. Generally could do with some renovation work and someone to motivate the staff. The Store Kro is an example that four stars don‘t mean anything. Good location for a long walk around the castle grounds.
The hotel had wonderful old-world charm, the staff was great! The room could have been better. I understand a lot of Europeans don't use AC but at least have a fan in the room, or at least screens on the windows so you can leave them open at night. All hotels should have blackout shades in the 21st century, this was a missed opportunity.
Everything was as good as last time apart from the internet which was slow so it was difficult to reply or get any information from hotels.com. why should it be so difficult to a loyal member
