The food is very fresh and they take great pride in quality ingredients in their food and drinks. Each is a masterpiece both is taste and presentation! The staff are all amazing and the property is very clean, except for the pools which gather leaves from the trees above, but I appreciate it’s impossible to avoid. The tubing and zipline are a must try offered on the property and the guided walk and yoga beautiful experience. The thermal river is unbelievably beautiful and warm like a hot tub and clear to the bottom. You have to experience it to believe it. Lots of walking and steps but all worth it! Nothing but relaxation and beauty at this resort. The rooms are very functional and private and it was amazing seeing monkeys and birds everywhere. I would stay here again!

Wow what a beautiful hotel! Rio Perdido offers quiet luxury in a very natural environment. The staff were fantastic- nothing was too much trouble and they were so friendly and kind. We stayed n an eat bungalow which was perfect for a couple or family of 3- huge bed, couch to chill on, lots of storage, good size bathroom and cute deck with hammocks where we sat and watched the monkeys playing in the trees. The food was delicious with lots of choices for all meals and daily specials. The setting of the hotel is spectacular- set in the forest with lots of areas for hiking and animal spotting. The highlight was the thermal river- I’ve never experienced anything like it- 3 natural thermal pools in the river where the water is fed from the nearby volcano- the hottest pool was like a hot bath! The swimming pools in the hotel are also fed from the river and therefore warm- great for relaxing but a bit small and warm for actual swimming. The hotel offers lots of activities- we did the river tubing which was great fun, and the complimentary hike and yoga( in the beautiful yoga studio in the forest). It’s quite pricey ( converting from GBP) but worth it for a few days of real relaxation in a unique location.

Spectacular property and a beautiful room and restaurant. Very accommodating and friendly helpful staff. The tubing experience was our favourite excursion of our trip. We did find the garden tour lacking due to the timing of what was active in the garden. Overall a spectacular stay with the thermal river and all wildlife being the highlight.

Our stay at Rio Perdido Hot Springs Resort was exceptional from start to finish. The property itself is stunning. The architecture blends beautifully into the surrounding jungle, and the individual rooms tucked into the forest make the whole experience feel private, peaceful, and immersive in nature. The thermal river and hot springs were incredible. Having three different pools at varying temperatures was perfect—you could move between them depending on how hot you wanted the soak. Sitting in those pools surrounded by the canyon and forest was one of the most relaxing experiences of our trip. The spa massage was also outstanding. After a day of exploring the property and soaking in the springs, it was the perfect way to unwind. Food at the restaurant was another highlight. Every meal was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared. It’s rare to find a resort where the food consistently matches the quality of the setting, but Rio Perdido definitely delivers. Overall, Rio Perdido strikes a rare balance: luxury accommodations, incredible natural surroundings, and a truly relaxing atmosphere. If you’re visiting Costa Rica and want something unique and memorable, this place is absolutely worth the stay.

First, Daniela, the concierge who handled a few communications via email/messaging was amazing, as were all the individuals we were lucky enough to interact with during our stay. Special call out to the restaurant staff, massage team, and yoga instructor. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, flush with vegetation and wildlife (esp. monkeys) in abundance. We were a bit caught off guard with the outside showers in the central bungalows, which were fine once we got over it, though they could’ve been a bit cleaner. All bungalows are tucked into the foliage so you definitely get a sense of wonderful isolation and peaceful tranquillity. The thermal river is amazing and the associated hike to and along the water is great, with tons of opportunity to soak in the water and spend many hours enjoying the day.

From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us with genuine warmth and hospitality. The maids, servers, concierge team, and everyone on site were unfailingly kind, attentive, and made us feel like we were among friends. The resort itself is stunning. Set within a private preserve of forests, canyons, and geothermal wonders, every view feels like a postcard. The thermal river is unforgettable — relaxing, healing, and unlike anything you’ll experience elsewhere. We loved the beautiful hiking trails, restorative yoga sessions, and exhilarating zip-lining. The food was exceptional across all restaurants, with fresh ingredients, great flavours, and flawless service. Every meal felt special. A true highlight was meeting Gabriel and his father — two of the most gracious, passionate people you’ll ever meet. Their love for the land, the community, and the guest experience shines through in every detail of the resort. Río Perdido is magical in every category: service, nature, activities, food, and atmosphere. We can’t recommend it highly enough and will absolutely be returning.

Everything about this place was amazing. Food service room etc. The property has it all. I did 4 stars because we couldn’t to river rafting but that had nothing to do with the hotel and everything to do with the weather. I highly recommend it here.

Beautiful setting in the middle of nature with great variety if wildlife and activities on premises. Not quiet, as at night all animals come alive, but for us the jungle noises and rain were super relaxing. Excellent service and food. Ownership truly cares about the environment and growing this ecosystem. Fantastic! One of a kind!

Rio Perdido is a boutique gem in northeastern Guanacaste, about an hour from Liberia airport. Beyond its thermal river and preserved jungle, what truly sets it apart is its people. From the start, every staff member made our stay memorable. Gabriella, the general manager, orchestrates the property with remarkable care. Ykson welcomed us at check-in, Monica flawlessly arranged our activities, and Esteban and Wilfredo made dining a joy. We were fortunate to be there on August 15th, 2025, when the resort marked National Relaxation Day with its first-ever yoga class at the heliport—a magical spot overlooking the forest. The event also celebrated Rio Perdido’s inclusion in the Small Luxury Hotels of the World’s new Wellbeing Collection. Marisol, the yoga teacher, created an unforgettable experience, blending yoga with her ukulele and ethereal singing. But the highlight came from someone special: Johan Jimenez, a 19-year-old staff member who embodies the heart of Rio Perdido. We saw him shine as a waiter, a mixologist at the pool bar, quietly keeping the pool immaculate, and ultimately bringing soul to our private engagement dinner. Bright, kind, and endlessly versatile, Johan is a treasure. Kudos to Rio Perdido for giving us not just a stay, but a memory we’ll carry forever.
