9.2/10 Wonderful! (2,790 reviews)
This is a great downtown stay, and the aesthetic of the hotel is very 'home alone', vintage vibes; however, the problem isn't the hotel itself, but the staff and the parking. The staff gave us mixed and, in some cases, incorrect information about parking. Parking isn’t mentioned on the hotel website, Expedia, or anywhere else we could find. Valet is actually $55 per stay, while self-parking is $35 per day in the hotel basement garage. When I asked, the front desk told me valet was $55 per day, so we chose the garage instead. It’s inconvenient to get in and out of, and it’s locked after 10 PM, meaning you have to call someone to come unlock it if you need your car. By Saturday, we decided to switch to valet for our last two nights, assuming it would cost around $110 plus tax. When I got the bill Monday morning, I discovered valet was only $55 for the entire stay. Because we were given incorrect information, we unnecessarily spent about $45 CAD on garage parking when we could have used valet the whole time. Every time I went up to the front desk, it didn't feel very hospitable. One blonde woman was lovely, but most of the male clerks seemed bothered. One of them even said, "You can't expect your car to be ready right away; you have to call 15 minutes in advance for valet." Like I use valet every day or something. The beds are very comfy. The hotel is quiet. The 11th floor is haunted. It's a 5-star hotel with 3-star service; why it's $250 CAD/night. Communication is KEY.
