"Stavros and his wife have blended the best of their global life-style with the local authentic vibes of Cycladic Folegandros. Their beautiful, brand new, stunningly designed house is perched on a cliff with stunning sea vistas. Everything about this property is right, and the hosts' friendly and open attitude, coupled with perfect (over)service - yeah they offer morning baskets with fruit, pastries, local grissini and olive paste as a courtesy, plus water and nespresso coffe - make for a wonderful stay. The communal terrace with a small plunge pool and sitting area with faux fireplace are really nice for an evening alfresco snacks & wining session (local bottles are available chilled in the rooms for a small fee). Chora is a few minutes' walk away, and you just need 15-20 miutes to climb up to the Church of Virgin Mary to enjoy mesmerising Folegandros sunsets (for the daring ones - climb up to the hilltop to get the extra thrill of sitting atop a vertical cliff). I will be back Stavros!"

"Surgically clean , lovely manager. So absolutely convenient to the plaka/city square and the vibrant , cultural town. 6 minute walk. Easy convenient parking, 12-15 minutes to the port. Easy Easy"

"THIS HOTEL SHOULD BE NAMED: SEWAGE SANDS Our two days at the Blue Sands Hotel were a total mess. The room smelled awful, and the staff treated us terribly. Do not stay here until they learn how to run a hotel and treat people with respect. Day One: The Awful Smell and The Rude Manager Our trip started with a ruined, sleepless night because of a terrible smell of human waste in our room from a broken pipe at the hotel. When the front desk opened at 9AM we spoke with the manager Mirela. Together we went to smell our room and she agreed it was bad, saying, "I’ve never smelled a room like this before, this is bad." They moved us to a new room, but that was the least they could do. A simple room change is not enough for such a horrible start to our vacation. They didn't even say sorry or offer our money back. When we asked for a refund, Mirela was very rude and laughed at us, saying she had "done more than enough." She acted like she didn't care at all about our terrible night. Day Two: Everything Broke The new room was just as bad. It had many problems: • The shower had no water pressure and no hot water. • The fridge leaked water all over the floor. • The air conditioner poured water down the wall, making a big puddle that soaked our luggage. To top it all off, we were supposed to check out at noon. But starting at 11:00 AM, staff kept banging on our door and calling us to make us leave quickly. "

"The Polikandia Hotel is an absolute gem. The property itself is kept in immaculate condition, and there is a genuine dedication to excellence in hospitality in every sense of the word. Gorgeous bougainvilleas surround the pool and create the most gorgeous setting. Location wise, the hotel is perfectly situated right at the entrance to Chora, with all the lovely taverns, shops and bars. These are all literally steps away. It is also ideally located for the walk up to the church with the most majestic sunset views (yes, better than anywhere else in the Cyclades and I have been to many!). The rooms of the hotel are comfortable, clean and well maintained. I highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for an unforgettable stay on the beautiful island of Folegandros."

"The stay was lovely - the room was beautiful and had a lovely courtyard. It’s a stone’s throw away from the town, so easy to get to by foot, maybe 10 minutes. Very easy to get to the bus stop as well, to get to the beaches etc. Lucia at the hotel was amazing - she was very communicative on whatsapp and took care of anything we needed, including a slightly later checkout after our ferry got delayed. Thank you so much for a lovely stay!"
