Location to train station was good. Staff and breakfast was great!! Elevator was functional but extremely small and slow. It would hold only 1 person and 1 bag. Reception area was being painted during our check in. Given the narrow hallways, one of our jackets ended up with paint on an arm.

We LOVED the breakfast at Hotel la Scala. The room was perfect and having bottled water in the fridge and a kettle with tea bags was appreciated. We only stayed one night but we would definitely go back next time! We recommend it to anyone looking for a place in Florence 😊

Once we figured out how to get in (strict 2pm arrival into the building no way to drop bags early) it was wonderful. The service was excellent and the breakfast was generous and delicious. The staff were so kind and we very much enjoyed our stay. I hope to come back again.

The hotel is lovely and in a convenient location - walkable to the best sights! The rooms are modern and comfortable in an historic building. The breakfast is delicious - homemade baked goods daily and made to order eggs and coffee. My only caution is that it is in a very noisy neighborhood. There are wonderful restaurants on the street but that makes for a lot of street noise. And there is loud traffic day and night.

The hotel is very close to the train station, and all the main attractions are within walking distance. There are also plenty of restaurants right outside the hotel. Both the room and the bathroom were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. The sunny-side-up eggs with runny yolks were fantastic!

Convenient location just a short walk from train station. Turning right out of the hotel and you're quickly in the middle of everything you could wish to see in Florence. We were a family of four in room 8 which worked well, although the shower pressure could have been better. Excellent breakfast and helpful staff. Would highly recommend.

Once we actually found the hotel (look for #21 on the street), the hotel staff were very kind and our room was gorgeous. The room featured a painting on the ceiling that was stunning, and there is a painting on the stairway ceiling as well. You get to literally live in history! I also appreciated the info guide that explained the historical significance of the building itself. The staff were so nice and very knowledgeable. The breakfast was the best we had in Italy - we looked forward to those freshly cooked eggs and fresh lattes/cappuccinos every morning. We did have a couple mosquitos in our room, although they were gone the next day after roomkeeping. And the hotel itself is 6 minute walk from the train station. Highly recommend for a stay in Florence!

Very nice and helpful staff, good breakfast buffet, great location with Santa Maria Novella and its piazza just around the corner. Spacious, luxurious bathroom and powerful air conditioning. With the old furniture and painted ceiling the ambiance in my room felt very much like an Italian place with history.
