Weekend get away

We visited Das James for a weekend get away and we loved every minute of it. We where two adults and our baby boy and we felt so welcome from the second we arrived to we left again. The room and spa area was amazing (small minus that a mistake happens and the kids spa wasn’t heated but was managed very well!). We enjoyed both rooms service and the James farmhouse restaurant and the food was so delicious. This was our first vist but for not our last!

Perfect get a way!

Amazing hotel that offers luxury but in a very comfortable, homely manner. The breakfast is the best breakfast I have every had in a hotel, and I travel a lot! Staff very helpful, rooms very comfortable. Pool area and spa very relaxing. Perfect for couples, friends or even families.

I have visited Das James before, and I have always loved it. This time the temperature at the pool was colder than normal, and it was way to cold to swim outside, which is part of the spa experience. When I went to the ladies sauna, I had to go and ask the staff to turn it on, and wait 20 min till it was ready. At my arrival, the service wasn’t very good, both at the reception and the bar, and this is such a shame, because the service use to be over the top. So, this time a dissapointing stay I have to say. But the food is always great.

Nice hotel as expected for a 5*. Only complaint was that we had booked a habor view room, but the only view we had was to a hedge (except from the bed room). Staff very friendly, breakfast great, room great (except lack of habour view)

One of the best ever.

Probably one of my 5 best hotelstayings ever and we have more than 600 stayings at different hotels all over the world. High class and top service from check in to check out. Normally I never give 5 star but this time I just have to do that all over. Also an extra star for "dog friendly" and we are looking forward to our next visit at "Das James" :)

I was upgraded to a capacious room. BUT bed and TV were up a long steep staircase with a handrail hard to grasp. No bath upstairs. So during the night 3 arduous trips up & down. I’m almost 80. Bad hips.

Perfect hotel for writing retreats and relaxation

I had a great stay at Das James. The hotel is beautifully designed, combining elegance with a modern and welcoming atmosphere. My room was spacious, stylish, and clean, with high-quality amenities and thoughtful details throughout. The staff were warm, attentive, and professional at every turn. The breakfast was outstanding, and the dinner was good (but not very good). Throughout my stay, everything felt well-organized and cared for. The only small downsides were that the AC wasn’t as powerful as one would prefer when the outside temperature is above 30 degrees and that the soundproofing in my room wasn’t perfect. I could occasionally hear noises from the hallway or neighboring rooms. Overall, Das James is a top-tier hotel that I would gladly return to. Highly recommended for those who want to enjoy a luxurious and relaxing hotel stay. Absolutely perfect for a writing retreat!

(almost) flawless luxury

The hotel has a great location right on the Flensburger Förde. It is about 2.5 miles to downtown, but that is easily covered by car or bicycle (about 10 min for the latter). It has all the typical attributes of a luxury hotel, but I would like to mention three areas where it really shines. Firstly, the entire staff, regardless of reception desk, restaurant or housekeeping, is amazing. They have a way to make you feel as if you are the only guest and nothing in their life matters more than making you feel comfortable. Secondly, the breakfast buffett (expectely with a lot of fish and seafood) is one of the best I have ever seen. Third, the combined indoor and outdoor pool is clearly first class. There was only one thing we were disappointed with: the hotel advertises having a gym. In reality this is made up of three rowing machines plus some boxing equipment. However, all the classic elements of a gym (treadmill, eliptical trainer, stationary bicycle) are missing, which impacted my daily exercise routine.

As always an exceptional stay at Das James!

As always an exceptional stay at Das James! Pros: Personal and great service!! We had to change room and received a bottle of sparkling wine as compensation. They are very quick to resolve issues when encountered. Service is exceptional at every level of the organization from the house keepers to the reception to the waiters in the restaurant. The breakfast is fenomenal and offers anything you could ever desire. The rooms are luxurious and the spa are is more than wonderful. Starting your stay with a glass of sparkling wine or coffee work wonders. There are very few “cons”, if you can even call them that. I would expect there to be conditioner in the bath in a hotel of this standard. There is none. Also, the bathroom light by the mirror is not well-suited for putting on make-up as the light is very dim. Final suggestion which would make a small difference - better coffee by the pool. The coffee is exceptional at breakfast and in the restaurant, but by the pool they could use a better coffee maker.
