Quite location in the hills . Easy parking. A nice building but showing it's age however the grounds are delightful and well maintained. The salad I had was fine. Overall an ok stay but not one I will remember.

An interesting place and not necessarily in a positive way. The, very few, staff working were lovely and very accommodating, and the food decent but goodness me does the place need an overhaul. Dated, scruffy and not on my list to return to. Sad really as it could be a very beautiful desirable place to stay if time and money were spent on it.
We just loved it.
Clean, amazing views ocver the countryside, excellent breakfast...we'll be back.

Pleasant staff and surroundings. Buildings a little dated, but reasonably well maintained. Very good breakfast selection. Evening meals were a little limited and Steak was a bit overpriced for the quality.
We only stayed for one night as we were on route to Cornwall, the staff were very friendly, lovely and welcoming. We had the Sunday roast and the Gammon was amazing we had to speak to the chef to let him know! The hotel is situated in beautiful calming surroundings and wish we had more time here! The room was spotless and looked like the bathroom had been refurbished and had everything we needed. Breakfast also was plentiful and more than enough choices and good quality. Would definitely stay here again if we are in the area. Big thank you to everyone
Lovely location, excellent surroundings, very clean, friendly staff, excellent breakfast.
The room was a little tired and the bathroom needs an update. However, it was very clean and comfortable and we would stay again.
This property was a proper little hideaway! The road in to it was a bit scary but well worth the trip! The property definitely had an air of bygone refinement to it. We had a very peaceful stay. The staff were very friendly and appeared gnuinely pleased to care for us.. It is a wonderful venue for business conferences, weddings etc.

The hotel staff were all helpful and attentive. The room was clean and fresh. The gardens were well kept and enjoyable. The building is old and in parts looking a little tired. Food in the restaurant was good. I would recommend the hotel for its excellent customer service and spotless accommodation.
Staff were lovely. Hotel really needs modernising and updating. The carpets were disgusting in the corridors. Upholstery needs cleaning. Shame as the location and the building itself is very good. Could be wonderful. Drive needs replacing.

A grand hotel building set on a picturesque estate with very good parking. It is set quite of the beaten path and the lane leading to the car park area was quite bumpy, dirty and replete with potholes. The hotel is part of the Sure Collection which is Best Western's premier line. The décor was a little tired, especially the carpeting in the corridors, some of which seemed to have been cleaned but only on the main walkway areas. The room was nice and spacious as was the bathroom. The shower took a while to warm up but was enjoyable. Breakfast was the highlight of the stay with a friendly and enthusiastic member of staff who took my order for a cooked breakfast which was as well cooked as I have had for a very long time and got my day off to the best start.
I don’t know who Lord Haldon is, but one thing I know for sure is that he hates everyone who stays at his hotel.
We’ll start with the positives. The views from the garden and parking area are lovely. The bed was clean and comfortable. End of positives.
Both the hotel’s communal areas and our room were extremely dirty, poorly maintained, and in need of a complete renovation. The shower, in particular, was pretty gross and just about dribbled out of the showerhead.
No toilet brush was provided in the room, which sadly meant my partner was subjected to my aftermath. I’ll spare you the details, but this eliminated what little optimism she had left for our stay.
While this wasn’t the hotel’s fault, it was roasting. However, the room fan provided was about as effective as an asthmatic blowing through a straw.
Breakfast was painfully slow. We ended up seating ourselves after waiting by the “Please wait to be seated” sign for five minutes. What passed for “coffee” from the self-service machine was pure dross. Thankfully, the machine then stopped working. The breakfast bap was dry, served without any sauce, and none was available. The French toast consisted of a single thin slice topped with six berries. The highlight of breakfast was the yogurt pots. Thank you, Golden Acre.
Sadly, it was a very disappointing stay, and I’d recommend staying somewhere else. Anywhere else, in fact.
Restaurant service, quality and quantity very good, but had issue with the Hotel's 3 course dinner offer. Obviously the Chef was not in agreement with the offer and it took ages to serve, otherwise the food was lovely. Room very comfortable, but if you are disabled in any way, there is no lift.

Nice-ish stay
Stunning from the outside, however the room needed some tlc (not sure if perhaps our room is used as a pet friendly room which might explain that). Bathroom was really nice, recently refurbished.
Out room was situated above some outside seating and other guests were fairly noisy outside until gone 11pm which wasn't great. Food was generally good, had one issue with an item, but no apology and seemed to be an effort to get the item removed from the bill.
Fire alarm also went off at 6:50am.
Unlikely we would stay again.
