It is an interesting, historic building. The photos from its 110 year history were interesting. The views over the river valley were great. There is some renovation in progress, It should be looking great in a few months.
Always a nice stay. Rooms are fairly well maintained. Staff are excellent, and very helpful. They were doing renovations on some of the dining facilities, but in room service was still available.
Hotel is currently under renovation which we were unaware of, but they upgraded our room and it was beautiful! Staff were top notch and very friendly. Grounds of course are spectacular!

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Beautiful view , nice amenities . We Would have Liked to know the place was undergoing Reno’s and main restaurant was closed.
The Hotel Macdonald is a beautiful historic hotel. We were excited to stay here for our anniversary. Reception upgraded us to a deluxe room with a city view, however unfortunately, the room was located next to the elevator which we could hear rolling all night long. Sounded like a train most of the time. The room itself was spotless which we greatly appreciated. Part of the hotel was also under renovation which impacted the full experience of this Michelin key hotel. Although it was a little disappointing we did enjoy our stay overall.
Very clean room. Great views. Fun history about the hotel grounds. Only knocked one star on staff/service due to the renovation that impacted how I would assume would've been normal operations for five star review. Also the ghost tours at night were quite noisy at very late hour.
Wonderful stay, the staff were excellent and attentive! The entire hotel was clean, even the spa and pool. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay as well as the massage I booked at the spa. Would definitely stay again!
Amazing, great customer service, accommodated special requests for a child’s birthday. Bartender was awesome and knowledgeable. Always love the fairmont experience.
This hotel never disappoints. The location downtown overlooking the river valley is spectacular, the rooms are without a doubt fit for royalty and the service is top notch. Definitely the best way to pamper yourself in Edmonton.
The staff was very friendly and the hotel is quite charming with history. Typical of Fairmont hotels. A great hotel for spoiling or treating others. I agree with the over all rating of the other hotel reviews of it. Recommend to stay at if interested in staying at. Just remember it is an old hotel of 1915 and has been updated since then.
