There's no lift and lots of stairs. I was assigned to a room in the basement the first night, the night lights didn't work. They sent in the maintenance guy, but he didn't have the parts to fix them. The door didn't lock well from inside, so I had to put a chair against it. It is unthinkable that they didn't check if everything works in the room before they make arrangements. I stayed in that room for two nights. Then they changed my room. Finally everything worked in the second one, but it's right below the sidewalk, so I had to keep the curtains shut all the time. I could hear people talk when they passed by. Some staffs are nice, some are not so nice. If you wanna stay in this hotel, you better request a room upstairs. If you have a big luggage, this place is not for you.

It was the worst experience I ever have in my life. Check in is supposed to be done from 3 PM. I arrived at 3:30 and asked to be wait for 10 min. I wait for 30 min in the end. Finally got a room since I've been urging the staff(because I m in a hurry to meet people, not expecting such delay in check in) When I enter my room, it was a disaster. The room was not ready. Towels on the floor, garbage still in the bin, bathroom unclean.... It was really awful. Fortunately I was going out right away so I ask the counter staff to have someone clean it.... The breakfast was quite good though.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights, both the apartment and the twin room. The rooms were nicely decorated, spacious and comfortable. We had very good time. Staffs were all friendly and helpful. Almost perfect. Unfortunately the oven didn’t work.

The Place Hotel in Edinburgh is a charming establishment that is within easy walking distance from Waverley Station and Waverley Mall, even if hauling your luggage, as I did. It is beautifully decorated and very clean. The staff were very hospitable and generously helpful with any of my needs or questions. There's a charming bar area, along with two very nice breakfast dining areas, which are connected, with ample common rooms in between. My single room was very nicely set up, very clean and had its own private bathroom and shower. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable and I was able to rest well after more than 24 hrs of travel. Breakfast does costs extra but was so worth it, because of the variety of choices of food and beverages. The only thing I found daunting were the stairs and carrying luggage up and down. Thankfully, Reception staff did help me get my luggage up two flights of stairs to my room, as I was wearing a knee brace, but just know that there is no lift. I will definitely stay here again, and highly recommend The Place Hotel for it's welcoming staff and extremely comfortable accommodations.

Excellent place to stay in Edinburgh! Very spacious, clean rooms, with very friendly and very helpful staff, and in a very convenient location. Really no complaints that I can think of. I would definitely stay here again in the future.

Mattress felt like it was 20 years old! Could squeeze both sides of the mattress together, could feel the bed base when sat on the mattress and could feel the springs when laying on it, both beds in the room were the same and I was offered an alternate room but the mattress had exactly the same issue. Ended up sleeping on top of 2 double duvets folded in half and a thick mattress topper to make my night vaguely comfortable and bearable. Will certainly not be staying here for my next trip to Edinburgh. The Premier Inn next door was far more comfortable, you didn't get any noise from the road and was actually slightly cheaper
