COVID-19 has changed the way we travel, but it hasn't dampened our zest for exploring. Here are some tips on how to handle the new challenges of traveling:

• Investigate if any travel restrictions apply to your origin and destination before committing to a flight. Also check if there are any special conditions you'll have to follow on arrival, such as mandatory quarantining.
• When you pass through airport checkpoints, keep your face mask on. You will be asked to briefly lower it to verify your identity. Travelers who refuse to wear a mask may face civil penalties and may also be escorted from the terminal.
• Instead of handing a TSA employee your boarding pass, place it straight on the reader yourself. Once that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• You can take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on luggage. You'll need to remove it for X-ray scanning.
• Put any personal items (e.g, keys, phone and coins) in your carry-on rather than a bin to minimize handling during screening.
• Transport any food items in a clear plastic bag and also place them in a screening bin. Separating food from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA officer will need to touch and open your bag for inspection.
