"Hotel is very jaded and in need of significant refurbishment but that said, it was clean and comfortable. Staff were brilliant and the breakfast, cooked to order was excellent. It’s a very short walk to the centre of Rye and its position gives a great view of the Channel estuary. Good value for money reflected the overall need for modernisation. "

"The staff were lovely and the food was great. We were upgraded to a superior room, which was wonderful and clean but the room was far too hot because it was next to the main working fireplace of the hotel. We had to have the window open the whole time to cool down, (but didn’t make too much difference in temperature) and then smoke from the chimney came into the room."

"Our stay was very good, our room was big and the beach view perfect. The inclusive evening meals were good, but, can always be hotter. My only shortcoming, to mention, is that the booking web sight makes no mention of a 40+ hotel car park at the rear of the premises, available at just £6.00 per day. That is cheaper than the on street parking available and far less hassle than having to either move or update a meter at 8.00 o’clock in the morning."

"Staff were attentive and polite. Room was a bit too hot for sleeping. Breakfast was excellent quality but the high end restaurant was expensive for the quality of food. Also only had 3 options for children which was not great. Swimming area was lovely. "

"Staff went over and above to be helpful. Hotel was very old and quirky. Lots of character and charm. The broken radiator in my room was sorted out successfully. The toilet in the room did not flush terribly well and the shower low pressure. Lovely lounges to sit in and the restaurant was very attractive. We had a good breakfast."

"Room looking our to sea beautiful. Only complaint was that it was lovely to be offered a free glass of wine but no alternative offered for those of us who do not drink. Well done apart from that."
