Great Hotel 5 min by car or 10 min walking outside of Drake bay. Excellent staff. We had a great experience, highly recommend their snorkelling your. They leave before everyone else so you are first to the hotspots before all the big guiding boats come. I would also suggest calling the hotel and having them set up your transport and all the activities you would like to do as it doesn't cost more and they know all the insured and well run operations in town. If we had done that it would have made things much easier for us. They also have full board or pay as you go for lunch and dinner. Meals were very good.

My sister and I loved our stay at this hotel! It’s just outside of town, has a pool overlooking the ocean, and AC in the rooms. The staff is amazing and very attentive! The bartender, Francisco, always made sure we had everything we needed and constantly tidied up around the pool. You have the option to pay additional to eat lunch or dinner at the hotel. We chose to walk into town. They can also help you to call a taxi, but sometimes they aren’t available. We did a scuba diving tour through the hotel and it was very easy to walk down to the beach to get on the boat. This was the best diving I’ve ever done - seeing turtles, reef sharks, stingrays and beautiful fish! We also saw lots of wildlife right from our balcony.

Wonderful property. Staff picked us up at the beach after our wet landing boat ride from Sierpe. Room #11 was perfect for an couple with an lovely patio including a hammock overlooking the river and ocean. Breakfast included with lunch and dining to purchase, all food options were very beautiful presentation, delicious and reasonably priced. Property is well kept with beautiful landscape and steps to the beach. A mile w allow into town took 30minutes or front desk can call a local taxi for $10. You can also rent a ATV. Staff was all very friendly and made sure we were prepared for our tours. Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Overall nice property and staff with a very convenient location. I felt like it was priced very high for conditions and that’s the only reason I dropped stars. I would have moved hotels but was too tired to deal with checking out and moving properties but was really disappointed that the extra night was the same rate I had paid on Expedia . Only other complaint is this was the only hotel on our whole trip that somehow didn’t charge me directly through Expedia and took my credit card info again at the front desk which made me feel uneasy. Nothing bad has happened with my cc info though, but I’m not accustomed to this practice and it made me uneasy.

Amazing gateway resort!

My wife and I had an excellent stay. The staff was really remarkable and provided great service. The owner is friendly and accommodating . The facilities are quaint and well maintained. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Right on the beach amidst a lush tropical setting. Loved it!

Beautiful hotel

The hotel is beautiful with a nice pool, located about 20min walking from the boat port in a secluded area. People are helpful and nice. One thing I should mention is that in Hotels.com it is mention that rooms has an AC where in fact it only had ceiling fan.

Very nice stay for the night before our dive. The room was quiet and simply decorated but comfortable. There was no food or drinks on the property so we had to go out for dinner, but we found a very nice place just down the road. The drive in from San Jose was all they said it would be and more! What an adventure. I would recommend staying here as it was very convenient for the diving with Canos Divers.

Très bel hôtel à Drake bay, avec un superbe service et de belles activités proposées. Pas de wifi dans les chambres mais ça permet de passer du temps autour de la piscine. Je recommande vivement !

Pirate Cove, CR

Had a wonderful time at Pirate Cove. Beautiful spot near the National Park and Cano Island with two long beaches to explore and lots of diving/snorkeling and swimming. Staff were fantastic - very friendly, and service was great from the chefs to the management. Would definitely recommend this resort.

Great view!

Everyone at Pirate Cove works extremely hard to make your stay the best it can be. If you survive the river crossing (or are smart and use a shuttle service), you find yourself in a beautiful cove, with Macaws overhead and lizards all around. They have free use of some brand new kayaks which is a really nice bonus. The snorkel tour is great, too!

Employees were super nice and very helpful. Food was very generous and delicious. The beach at the hotel is often empty and quite beautiful and easy to swim for adults and children. The excursions like the Night walk were excellent. Wonderful place, we will definately come back!
