We stayed over the Christmas break in a Jacuzzi suite. We booked at Deep Woods, but were put up in ELIXIR HILLS their BRAND NEW property next door (opened sometime in Oct 2017). Rooms are in a spanking new condition. Food was reasonably OK. This property is in the middle of the Pulimoottil Estate and is around 10 Kms away from Munnar (1 hr by road to Munnar). It is close to Deep Woods Resort, their sister property. We tried food at Deep Woods one night and that was also nice.

Tucked INSIDE the Forest. Faaar away from Munnar

We stayed over the Christmas break in a Jacuzzi suite. The property is brand new having opened sometime in Oct 2017. Rooms are in a spanking new condition. Food was reasonably OK. This property is in the middle of the Pulimoottil Estate and is around 10 Kms away from Munnar (1 hr by road to Munnar). It is close to Deep Woods Resort, their sister property. We tried food at Deep Woods one night and that was also nice.

Terrible

The rooms were untidy and the place was expensive when compared to the service they offered...we had booked 2 cottages B5/B6, one was spacious while the other was really small..there was nothing in their menu which was below 100.. We had arranged for a campfire for which they charged 3000 just for setting the fire and extra for food..On top they served us uncooked chicken and when informed they cooked it again which turned to be burned chicken..will never go there again

gute Lage für Naturfreunde und Ruhesuchende

ich bin mit meinem Aufenthalt in diesem Hotel sehr zufrieden. Ich suchte ein einfaches und abgelegenes Resort für ungestörten Urlaub und Erholung. Das Hotel liegt sehr abseits und direkt im Wald. Die Angestellten sind sehr bemüht den Gästen einen angenehmen Aufenthalt zu ermöglichen. Die Gäste stören sich nicht gegenseitig, da die Ferienhäuser der Anlage sehr verstreut in einer großen Anlage verteilt sind. Ein ideales Reiseziel für Leute die von Tiergeräuschen geweckt werden wollen, die kein Internet brauchen und auch auf einen Telefonanschluß für einige Zeit verzichten können. Allerdings gibt es ein kleines " Minus ". Bei der Buchung des Resorts gibt es keinen Hinweis, daß man NICHT mit Kreditkarte bezahlen kann ! Das sorgte für eine negative Überraschung. Die Angestellten des Hotels halfen aber. Die Ausstattung des Hotels ist zweckmäßig bis romantisch. Die Räume sind sehr sauber. Ich werde dieses Resort wieder buchen, wenn ich nach Munnar reise.

Not for everyone

This place is great if you actually do the research-- it is 14km away from Munnar town. I took the public bus from Fort Kochin (90 rupees) to Munnar (5 hours) and then an autorickshaw (200 rupees) to Deep Woods (30 minutes). You have to tell the driver "Pullimotil." It is a beautiful drive/walk (about 2.5 hour walk to Munnar) through the tea plantations. Breakfast is included and is respectable. If you don't want to use their restaurant just eat in town before you go back to the hotel.

Best 13 km walk to town one could experience!

The hotel staff is extremely friendly and helpful. This is the sort of place best suited for foreigners who enjoy getting away from it all and having a very long walk into the town. The scenery is the most picturesque lush rolling diverse landscape along the 13 km walk in to Munnar. The local people, many of whom are children on their way to or from school, and locals who live and work on or near the giant Letchmi Tea Estate are very friendly, chatty, and spirited. They were so welcoming. That plus the gorgeous scenery made the walks to or from the hotel from town the best part of a month long trip to India so far. It is really idyllic and better than any other sightseeing I've done in Kerala. This place is not a good choice for anyone who can't live without a phone or Internet. The veg food is very good but I would avoid the meat and soup choices. Rooms have a rustic feel and were in line with the price. An extra blanket at night may be needed. Prefect spot for anyone who is an avid walker needing the best views along the way.

Best place on Earth for a walk

Pulimoottil is the name of the place in the local language. Almost no one local knows it as Deep Woods. It is situated a little more than 13 km from the town of Munnar, near the Letchmi Tea Estate. If you enjoy a long walk through changing gorgeous landscape, this place is for you. Both days I stayed here I walked to or from town stopping along the way to talk to locals. The children want chocolate, money, or pens. If you are foreign this place is a must. It was better than any tour of any other site in the region I did. Just get out and walk there. It takes several hours 2-3 at least depending how long you stop to talk to people, but the place is memorable and the tea estate's land is breathtaking. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good and so were the veg selections for dinner. Avoid the meat dishes.

surrounded by pure nature

very friendly management, wonderfully situated 12 km outside of busy Munnar. Lovely countryside with beautiful teaplantations covering the hills around Munnar like green carpets. Unforgettable. Rooms are not spectacular but clean, unattractively furnished. Ok for the moderate price. Would come back any time.

Cottage Review

The cottage allotted B2 had Room doors and bathroom doors which were not possible to close from outside so most of the time it was open this was terrible for us kids would run into bathroom at a given chance

Deep in the woods

To start with, this place has no cellular coverage, now that is good. After all arent you visiting Munnar for vacation? The resort is in a deep forest with the bunglows and rooms scattered across. The trails within the resort are good, with good dose of adventure, climbs, creeks, tall trees and wild animals. There is a waterfall closeby, a short drive from the resort. The rooms were exactly same as shown in the website pictures, with glass windows on three sides. The staff are very courteous and helpful. The restaurant is good and priced reasonably. For those driving here, the location of this place is 10.063621,76.990813

Good place but choose carefully

One thing you must understand before booking this hotel is the location is as deep as it can get. This has a good and a bad implication - good: the road to the hotel and surroundings are just fabulous; bad: you go too deep into munnar, that getting to a city takes you 20-30 mins which means for any nearby visit one has to plan accordingly. Other things: (+) large/ calm place, not crowded (middle of a jungle if i have to compare), not much activity to do accept for trekking/ photography (-) Food is average, Staff is courteous but sloppy, no mobile network, one has to tell 2 hrs in advance to if you plan to eat lunch/ dinner
