"Very quirky place to stay, we thought the room being behind the bookcase was really cool! I wasn’t as a fan of the photos on the ceiling though Overall I can’t complain about the place, the staff were nice and the shared bathrooms were perfectly clean. We really enjoyed the breakfast here as well. The only things I wasn’t as keen on (small room etc.) I already knew before going and was advertised as such, so that’s my own problem really! "Although the interior of the property is pretty dated, it was very clean, comfortable bed, the staff were very accomodating, wonderful hot shower and the bathroom was fairly new compared to the rest of the room. It is a budget hotel after all so overall was very happy with our stay. Transport nearby, approx 10 mins and plenty of shops and places to eat near. Enjoyed our stay in Amsterdam."

Aside from the room itself being cramped and expensive for the size due to being located at the airport, the CitizenM has other good things going for it that more than make up for the downsides: good food at the restaurant and not too expensive, very friendly and helpful staff, and a nice main floor to relax on all help keep that rating boosted. "Great hotel, wonderful staff! We got there very early and our check-in was at 3. They did offer a different room, at the same price. But we had reserved a canal view room with a balcony and decided to wait. It was worth waiting for. Nice and quiet, with an amazing water view. We were there for King's Day ( not on purpose). There were about 1,000 people out front with a great DJ. The whole city is in party mode. It was fine, but glad our room room was along the river in back."
