This was a great place to stay. It had everything we could possibly need and was clean, warm and comfortable. Check in was smooth and the owner was polite and helpful.

Overpriced. We booked a 2 bedroom chalet on account of our snoring. On check got in slugged an extra $50 more because we were planning on using the second room. No milk for our tea and coffee. Notice on the bench threatening to charge a breakfast tariff if we used any of the breakfast cereals that were in jars in the kitchen cupboards. Gas fireplace in the lounge area didn’t work. Filthy bath towels used as door mats at front and rear door, not a good look. Bath towels in the bathroom were perfectly fine. Pretty disappointing!

Check in time is unusual, at 3pm. We arrived at 2:45 and the owner literally locked the door in our faces as she was having a chat with someone. He left at 3pm and we joined the queue to check in. We had to write down credit card details on a form. I asked why and was told it was because they have trouble with people accepting extra charges. Not surprised... Advised the heater was on, which was nice as it was about 6 degrees outside and 4C in the morning. There was snow falling in the hills. We could light the fire but it might make the chalet too hot, so we didn't. The wall heater was very noisy overnight though, clicking lots as it heated up and cooled down. The main circuit board is right beside the bed with 3 bright LEDs showing. This was my side of the bed and keeping me awake so I moved into another room. The other room was very cold, and we couldn't use the toilet at night without waking each other as the bathroom door had a terrible squeak and in fact stuck on the jamb when shut properly, swinging open of its own accord unless forced shut. There was some cereal on a shelf with a note that we would be charged if we used it. So we didn't. Two days later our credit card was charged an additional fifty dollar charge. I queried this in writing but did not get any reply from them so went to the Hotels.com chat They got the reply that it was for using two beds! Odd as the booking was for two. Hotels.com covered it with a credit. NOT RECOMMENDED.

I’d read a few poor reviews of the Derwent Bridge Chalets & Accommodation, and they turned out to be totally unfounded. We stayed in a Narcissus Studio and it was very comfortable. I didn’t expect the room to have a microwave and toaster (they weren’t specified) so we were able to make breakfast. Great location for Lake St Clair. Only downside - there was no WiFi. But 4G signal was fine.

Everything was fantastic, 10 out of 10. The Shalet was spotless, it had a lovely wood fire and an electric heater. The rooms were all done in wood panelling, there was kitchen and laundry facilities and the spa bath was a lovely extra touch. Despite the rainy weather, we were very cosy and warm.

Comfortable and warm

Our little cabin was cozy and easy to access. The bed was relatively comfortable but theres not a great deal of space to manouvre around it easily. The heater is a godsend on cold nights and heats up the room fairly quickly. It was a relatively simple cabin, but it had everything we needed and we were comfortable.
