This was my worst experience in 20 years staying at luxury hotels. I arrived at the hotel after 9pm only to be told by the night manager that they 'ran out of rooms' so they moved me to a Hyatt regency 15 minute away. They didn't bother to call me or email me and tried to blame the lack of contact on Expedia.
Additionally, the night manager promised me a king room on a renovated room but obviously I got the opposite when I arrived at the Hyatt. Thankfully, the service at the Hyatt Regency was MUCH better than that provided by the night manager at the Thompson so they took care of me.
They didn't even offer me any personal compensation for the significant inconvenience. I am a Lifetime Platinum member with Marriott and I can safely say this was the worst experience I've had at a supposed 5-star hotel.
