The property was well-maintained. Although the rooms are small and old, they are clean. However, there is a strong sewage odor as one walks to the south of the main building. It is very offensive!
Another difficulty, if traveling privately and not on a cruise, is that there was no offer to take bags from our car to our lodging behind the main building. We would have been glad to tip a valet as at other hotels, but none was available and none offered. There was no car access and lugging our suitcases across the back paths and then upstairs was very difficult.
The front desk staff were very helpful with information and suggestions. The spacious front lobby and downstairs eating and seating were busy but did not feel overly crowded despite the large cruise group.
The property van service was often full, meaning we had to walk about 1/3 mile to eat on the property. Kaarstan's Pub was delicious with some of the best food on our trip. The salmon and Peruvian rotisserie chicken were delicious. We were seated quickly and service was excellent. The property shops were well appointed, and staff was friendly.
