  • Bulow Creek State Park is a Florida State Park located five miles north of Ormond Beach. It is on Old Dixie Highway, next to the Atlantic Ocean. For more than 400 years, the Fairchild Oak has silently observed the events along Bulow Creek — serving as a noble guard of the area’s magnificent environment. Nearly two centuries ago in 1836, the neighboring Bulow Plantation was destroyed during the Second Seminole War. And still, the Fairchild Oak stands strong. Local legend has it that this majestic oak tree was the site of two deaths. The first was that of James Ormond II, who lived in a house a stone’s throw from the tree and whose body was found under it, his cause of death unknown. The second death is shrouded in even more mystery. Norman Harwood, who purchased the property around 1880, is remembered as a hulking man. Some stories portray him as a cattle farmer, while others cite him as a dry-goods businessman — but most accounts say Harwood was deep in over his head in debt. It’s unclear what happened, but the myths suggest that Harwood, buried in economic turmoil, killed himself under the tree. #oak #Nature

Washroom facility where Disgusting, dirty floor

Ran out of toilet paper for 2 days strait fitly floor, no hot water for shower, the carbine is so dirty we had to clean the floor, before we sleep in there, there is a big gap under the door we end up with a Lizard in our bed actually I would never recommend this place unless you have your own RV to sleep in. It more a Hillbilly place then anything else

Horrible !

Nous savions que c'était un camping avec des sanitaires à l'extérieur. Nous avions juste demandé à avoir du linge dans les lits. On nous avais dit que le nécessaire serait fait. Et là, çe fut l'horreur, un bungalow/chalet déjà très sale à l'extérieur, et l'intérieur la maison des horreurs et juste des draps housses. Impossible de dormir là dedans ! Évidemment bureau fermé pour demander les draps ! Nous sommes donc partis à l'hôtel !

Great 4th of July weekend

The cabin was great we had such a great time. The pool was beautiful and it was nice and quiet at night.

don't think I would go back

it was freezing cold that night and I had to beg for a heater then there was hidden charges that I didn't know about that they put on my card after we left!! I would Not go back

great stay

Keep in mind this is a camp ground if tour looking for a cushy hotel this is not it. If you want a low cost simple stay I highly recommend. I had a small cabin that is a single room with twin bunk beds style and a double next to it. Bathrooms are a short walk and kept clean and single private showers give privacy and a a nice way to clean up. The cabin is small and if you want a place to sit bring folding chairs otherwise only seating is on beds. Mattress are thun so if you want more toss an inflatable on top of them. There was cold ac and a ceiling fan and the area was very quiet. There was a slot in front for a small camp fire although I did not use it this trip. Also had one outlet in cabin to recharge cell phones. Overall I had a nice 2 nights here for less then what I would pay for a single night at a cheap motel

A rustic cabin by the beach. Fun.

Decent cabin with a double bed and a bunk bed. Sleeps four. A.C . Has a ceiling fan with overhead lighting. Has a few outlets. Lots of wasps though. Make sure to bring spray. The staff was great !!!
