"This was a great resort for the price. Felipe at breakfast was the best, along with everyone else. The breakfast was by far our favorite meal of the day!! Definitely try out the Naked Indian nextdoor. It was the best dinner we had in this part of town. The hotel's beach is made for kite surfing but we enjoyed walking down towards the groves and seeing all the different birds. Our favorite beach was Playa Rajadita and El Jobo. None of the beaches are very busy except for the weekends when the locals enjoy them. The water was a bit chilly but snorkeling everywhere was a delight! Lots to see. The rooms are very large but I wish they had any kind of fridge.... You can get ice for your water at breakfast. The pool was nice, also a bit chilly! I would definitely recommend this hotel and would go again! Look for the monkeys! They are in the trees on the dirt road to the hotel and all over if you look for them!"

"Very nice property. The reception is 2km from the main road up hill. 3 restaurants and complimentary breakfast was good. Basic and fresh. Spa(hot springs) is amazing located in the forest. 25 minutes tractors shuttle on bumpy road to get there. Once you are there, you will have to eat in there restaurant since nothing is close by."

"My husband and I stayed at Santa Elena Lodge for 3 nights while visiting Cuajiniquil for birding and natural history. We were told the lodge was constructed from reclaimed wood and built by the family who still run it today. It is quite a stunning structure. The gardens are lovely. The food was probably the best we had on a 9 day trip to some natural areas of Costa Rica - generous portions at every meal and good coffee There are many natural areas to visit to see birds and other wildlife and there is a reference guide in each room expaining in detail where to find these areas. Owners and staff were also very knowledgeable. This area and the lodge is authentic and undisturbed by the excessive tourism of some other areas. The staff at the lodge are very, very friendly, rooms very clean. I recommend this lodge and area for true nature lovers. "

"Rancho Costafalo is a unique and very special place. It is remote and is situated in an idyllic setting on a large farm with an amazing botanical garden with species of citrus, palms, and rare cacti and a large beautiful pond. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed out two-night stay at the ranch. The accommodations are somewhat rustic, but offer everything we needed, a clean bed, nice bathroom and a pleasant deck. The ranch is about a 20-minute drive from the Santa Rosa National Park, which is well worth a visit for its historic significance and nice paved trails. It is also about 10 minutes from a small town with all the amenities. If you visit, be sure to stop by the tiny De La Abuella restaurant for dinner. Allan, the owners, is nice, friendly and helpful. He was very generous with us because we had forgotten to take cash and he footed the bill for our dinner and we reimbursed him later. We have a place in Guanacaste near Playa Grande. We plan to visit the ranch again the next time we are in the area. Melvin, the attendant at the ranch was very nice, polite and helpful. "
