Would stay at this resort again! Since we first arrived we were greeted with good customer service and a drink. Room as described and housekeeping would leave the room cleaned and spotless. The waiters would make sure we were attended. We especially appreciated a waiter named Hugo. He would make sure we were well attended with food or a drink. He made our stay more enjoyable. The pools were cleaned and the beach was beautiful with nice clear water. Would recommend this resort for a nice getaway.

I spent Christmas 2025 at Cozumel Cozumeleño , and it was the worst resort experience I’ve ever had. The marketing is pure deception—what’s advertised online does not match reality. The property is crumbling: all hot-tubs were broken, malfunctioning shower doors, loose sink handles, and even a safety deposit box that barely worked. Stairs are crumbling with exposed wire making it unsafe The food was bland, repetitive, and poorly communicated. You only get certain items if you know the “secret menu” and ask for them specifically—ice cream, for example, is hidden unless you know to request it. Dining felt like a guessing game, and we barely ate because the food wasn’t worth it. Entertainment? Nonexistent. No music, no activities, not even on Christmas Eve. Guests dressed beautifully for the holiday sat around bored. The pool table was uneven, sticks had no tips, the ping-pong table was broken, and the gym was laughable—a tiny closet with one outdated machine. The front desk and activities desk gave conflicting information, leaving guests frustrated. This resort is a masterclass in marketing deception, delivering a subpar experience that feels like a scam. If you value your money and your holiday, stay far away from Cozumel Cozumeleño

Check in was not good. Swim up bar was not open. Room service was non-existent. Dining options limited. Entertainment was less than advertised. No in-room refrigerator or phone. But other than that it was good.

We booked El Cozumeleno because it was advertised as great snorkeling right off of the beach and it fully lived up to that so we’re happy. The place is a bit run down but great snorkeling and an awesome balcony view makes up for a lot. Also a nice beach with drink and food service. The staff is great and especially the servers/waiters highlighted in particular by Carlos and Aldo, both of whom made us feel so welcomed. It would be nice with more restaurant choices, and since we had poor experiences at the supposedly nicer one twice, we simply dined at the buffet restaurant by the beach with great views instead. They really need to work on upgrading the quality of food in the inside restaurant. Considering that this was one of the lower priced hotels on the island, it is definitely worth it, especially for families where luxury is not needed. However, due to lack of restaurant choices stays of more than 5 nights is probably not recommended.

What stood out for us was the staff! We enjoyed our week getting to laugh with Paulino, Oscar, Hugo. Order the bartender special :) Make reservations for dinner & enjoy the delicious lasagna! We did encounter a plumbing issue during our stay, but it was handled quickly & efficiently.

They didn't offer any shuttles . Our room was very old room with a loud ac that didn't work. It was over 76 f in our room every day. No Internet. No phone. They didn't give us a different room and manager Julio offered 2 night gift voucher for off season but we declined . They checked ac issues and confirmed the they were going to put room into maintenance mode. We had room experience It was hot and 2 sleepless nights . Room also had drainage issues, no working Internet on the property no plugs in room for charging personal equipment. Nothing was good about the room except ocean view. The rooms we got were over 50 years old .

Staff was very courteous, helpful, and friendly. However, was disappointed that I wasn't told by the travel agency everything would not be available to us due to seasonal differences. I vacationed about a month earlier than usual. Also, twice, we ended up paying for cab fare we already paid for... One was the ride back to the hotel from a sunset cruise excursion, the other was to the airport to go home... Already paid way in advance for shuttle to and from airport. Not a happy camper. This was my 4th time in Cozumel, and 2nd time at El Cozumeleno Resort... I will probably not come back here, sorry to say.

We enjoyed our 2 week vacations at El Cozumeleno. Swimming and snorkeling, and long walks along the beach are the main attractions for us. Food and drinks are fine also. They perfectly correspond to the price we pay. Service is very attentive and proactive, which we always motivated with small tips. Rooms are clean. The only disadvantage is the plumbing condition in bathrooms and showers. Faucets should have been replaced 10 years ago! But the water is still running and the faucets open and close (against all odds). We will most likely come back again. Simply because we do not know any other place on the island with such a nice beach.

Staff is very helpful and friendly, the facilities are older but in decent condition, the bed was plenty hard. The snorkeling right off the beach is incredible, with lots of fish. Overall highly recommended
