It’s an older building renovated to feel comfortable. Nice bathrooms and on par for facilities vs price.
We did however find a few deal breaking quirks… the heatpump outdoor unit was so loud we had to compromise between using this or sleep, I’m not talking a wee hum, this was like a bus idling outside your bedroom.
Luckily there were electric blankets, however in order for the plug to reach a socket, meant shifting the bed, this would be no issue had we not found 6 large toenails and a slipper under the bed!
The photos used for the property online paint a very different image to what it is like in reality. The concierge area was totally empty except for the reception desk (it looks like a bar is advertised online). Half of the rooms were also under construction which was a bit of an eye sore and quite noisy from fairly early in the morning.
The room was clean and comfortable, but overall we felt that this stay didn’t meet our expectations
We appreciated the location, no noticeable traffic noise. We learned the room was newly renovated but the first thing I noticed was lots of UHT milk pockets - nice. But when I went to put our chilli -bin contents in there it was not cold at all even though it was would up to full coldness.
The staff were baffled as it was anew fridge - they did agree to hold our items in their own fridge.
The fridge being right on the ground would not accessible to all people. I ened up turning it off as it glowed very brightly at night, as did the TV remote light - so I turned it off at the wall. Otherwise, a good place to stay. We were just passing through, didnt use any other facilities.
Honestly I loved this motel! When I first pulled up the exterior look quite dated and I was quite shocked after the photos I saw for it. However it all changed once I got into my room where I was pleasantly surprised. Very beautiful decor with a nice, comfortable king sized bed.
The one thing I didn't quite understand about the room is all the decor was made to look beautiful but definitely not last, it was all very cheaply built and definitely bought on Amazon or something like that. However it was overall beautiful.
I would stay here again.
Beautiful, well designed rooms to a very high standard. Comfy beds. Loved the resteraunt food. Very convenient for our arrival to Christchurch by train.
Nice and tidy , when we went away and left the key at office no one was there when we came back had to wait till someone turned up

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
The room with two queen beds (sleeps 4) was small and cramped. The doors are sliding glass doors and it is am ordeal to get into room as doors and bed get in the way. Probably only 1 feet of space to squeeze into the room. The other rooms with two sinngle beds are of the same size. So if you are booking for 4 people then I will not recommend this property. There is renovation happening. Hopefully once xo.eted the rooms would be good (for 2 people).

Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities
The room is too small for double beds, one of the bed blocks half of the entry door. There is strong fishy odor coming from the back of the refrigerator and is unbearable, the front desk is locked and no one there by 8 pm to inform. No guest amenities and seems the property is under renovation. Wouldn’t have booked if I had known the property is under renovation.

Disliked: Staff & service
I had a late check in so called the motel and they said the would send instructions to get my key. I texted from the airport asking for the instructions some time later, and again when I was on my lay over. When I landed I texted again and finally got the instructions for check in.
I have stayed here many times in the past but the room had a make over and while the bathroom was nice the rest of the room was not as good as before. The refrigerator didn't work and now there is no desk space or a good place to set your luggage. Might be an upgrade but not an improvement
