At no point was it advertised that the pool would be out of action for routine maintenance. Access to the pool and other amenities were advertised as fully available when the hotel was booked and at no point was it communicated in advance to the stay. False advertising.

Room was clean and amenities such as the pool and gym were great. Great breakfast. Room was disappointing- small bed which was also on wheels so moved around and rubbish underneath the bed. No a/c just a small fan so room was warm. Easy check in process but given no information about the stay such as breakfast times. We were given an accessible room so the bathroom was disappointing and lock on the door completely broken - fell apart when trying to use. Overall disappointing and wouldn’t class the hotel as 4 star.

The main house looks lovely but don’t be fooled. First room in the Waterhouse was a disaster the stench was awful! Mould and damp. Room was swapped but not much better, dirty and damage to the walls. The staff are just rude and unhelpful. Asked where breakfast was, directed to the main house. Stood for 10 mins being ignored by staff so approached a lady and asked, got barked at ‘we open at 7:30!’ Ok no one informed me and only asked if I could get a coffee as there was nowhere else to have one - being informed the machines are for other guests!? All I wanted was a coffee! The gym is poor, broken equipment very limited and no music as the tv didn’t work. There is nowhere on site apart from the main house to get anything food or drink wise and that’s only when the staff can be bothered to. The whole place is just poor and tatty. Shame as when you arrive you think what a lovely building and grounds but that soon goes when you meet the staff and are directed to what’s best described as a the equivalent of a motorway grotty hotel aka the Waterhouse.

We did not realise that this hotel had separate “wings” and we ended up in a nice Travelodge building. This was clean and fairly quiet but quite a trek to the restaurant. The shower in the room was oddly positioned so you couldn’t turn it on or off without drenching yourself. However water pressure and temperature were excellent. When we arrived we were told we couldn’t use the pool until later because of swimming lessons. This is not mentioned in the Expedia advert. Some of the staff were excellent and hats off to the head of housekeeping at the Mews. However the bar staff were unknowingly entertaining with their loud descriptions of management. It might be a good idea not to discuss them in front of guests. It was ok and for the price it was a nice one night stay but I would have been annoyed if we’d had to pay full price.

Beautiful surrounding. Hotel property is ok. On the first day at the reception I was given a room that takes about 6 minutes to walk,I went with 2 suitcases up a steep hill till the hotel area.the weather was really really hot.was not offered for someone to give me a hand! Then 1 flight up no lift.came there was exhausted as hell.no a/c in the rooms only small fan.did not sleep well 3 nights.in the morning 7.50 a.m working was going on on the roof really loud noise..so could not enjoy some peacefull sleep in the morning. All of this , ,I would not come back to this place.
