At no point was it advertised that the pool would be out of action for routine maintenance. Access to the pool and other amenities were advertised as fully available when the hotel was booked and at no point was it communicated in advance to the stay. False advertising.

Room was clean and amenities such as the pool and gym were great. Great breakfast. Room was disappointing- small bed which was also on wheels so moved around and rubbish underneath the bed. No a/c just a small fan so room was warm. Easy check in process but given no information about the stay such as breakfast times. We were given an accessible room so the bathroom was disappointing and lock on the door completely broken - fell apart when trying to use. Overall disappointing and wouldn’t class the hotel as 4 star.

Really poor service from the reception team. We were charged for the room again at check out because she didn’t speak to us before charging to a card. It wasn’t even the card used to book but one used to pay for breakfast. We were then told that she couldn’t fix it and WE had to email guest relations. We did and the guest relations sent an email back saying accounts will refund us IF the charge was taken twice in 3-7 days. Accidents happen but this has been dealt with incredibly poorly and now we are £200 down until they decide if we are lying. It should be clear on the account that we paid through Expedia. As yet it is unresolved.

If you get a room in the Waterhouse, it feels like a prison. A trek to the restaurant and bar. The building has no character or personnel working, you must walk to the main check in area for any service. The Waterhouse is nothing like the main building.

Location is stunning, could spend hours looking around the grounds. Room was lovely, bathroom a little small but definitely still fit for purpose. Great to have use of pool/sauna and gym which weren’t busy at all. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful day and night. Bar staff were friendly but could do with some additional support with serving, order taking etc. there was a wedding on when we arrived however did not effect our stay and didn’t hear any noise. Didn’t try any of the food available at the bar or evening meals but the breakfast was really nice and exceptional allergen awareness and as a coeliac lots of choice. Would definitely return and stay again but for potentially 2 nights to be able to enjoy the grounds and surrounding areas. Definitely worth the stay ☺️
