I booked this hotel via Expedia. Five minutes after doing so, I realized I had made a mistake. I had booked the correct dates but the wrong location. I made many calls to Expedia and the hotel direct to try to cancel the booking, but I couldn't get a refund. The stay was still months away, but that didn't make any difference.
After arriving in the UK, I realized that Greene King is a chain. They could have offered me a different hotel in my desired location. I would have been happy to pay the difference.
As we checked in, the manager inexplicably dropped the f bomb. It just slipped out. It wasnt a stressful situation, it was just a natural part of her language.
I bought my son a drink from the bar. When he asked for ice, the person serving said they had 'run out'.
From this experience I learned to never book a hotel that doesn’t have a reasonable cancelation policy. It's an indication of poor management.
I will never use Expedia again either.
