Definitely not a 3/4/5 star hotel
The bed sheets were dirty.
The breakfast was appalling.
WiFi is crap and only available in the main lobby!

Belle vue

Due for renovation
The name of the hotel is actually Hotel Atlas - Asmaa is its very old name. The hotel is outside the main area but with lovely views and a nice sized pool. Generally the hotel has been neglected and needs renovation. In fact it is closing for 9 months in September 2019 for works to be undertaken. Choices for dinner were limited to a three course set meal with the same three choices for each course which meant we ate out more than we wanted to. Wi-fi only available in the reception area. Staff very friendly and helpful. As much free local bottled water that you can drink from nearby stream.I look forward to returning to the updated hotel.

Property is now called Hotel Atlas. Location is GREAT. You can see the entire town from the hotel which provides amazing views of the famous blue colored buildings of Chefchaouen.
The air conditioning wasn’t working but everything else was nice

Impressive view of Chaouen
Pros: Professional, friendly staff; incredible views; pool, summer service only; bar in which you can order pizzas and bocadillos.
Cons: Wild dogs living in cemetery can be loud; clearly run down in general; Atlas needs to invest some money in this property to restore it to its former glory days; a bit far from Medina, not a problem going down; however, coming up may be challenging after tramping around Medina all day.
I would not recommend this place - Hotel Atlas is NOT worth the money. I would recommend either spending more for an actually nice hotel or saving money by going budget. Doesn't matter which - just choose one in the heart of the médina near the action.
Hotel Atlas is set in the higher mountain roads away from the medina and requires a taxi everytime you want to go anywhere (20 DH, don't get scammed into paying more) and since it's away from the city center, they have to call a taxi everytime, e.g. no cabs hang out at the entrance. There's a steep hiking trail behind the hotel leading down into the médina; if this appeals to you, bring hiking shoes or shoes with good traction.
Breakfast was 140 DH for 2: watery coffee, stale bread, sliced oranges, and spam meat. No protein. I would have been better off eating in the Medina for ten times the quality at half the price. To top it off, I tried to pay with a 200 MAD bill and was told they didn't have change. Uh, excuse me, aren't you a hotel?
The "AC" unit was a fan that blew in hot air, no matter what setting I put it on. It was broken in our unit. And there was something wrong with the toilet, it took hours to settle and kept running water all night long.
Wifi is only available in the lobby. Concierge service is hit or miss. Two folks were friendly, but some were rude and grumpy.
Pros? Clean, no bed bugs. And great views of Chefchaouen though the tradeoff is the hike from town.

My fiancé and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. We were greeted by Mustafa, who was an absolute pleasure to talk to and extremely helpful. We stayed in the family suite, which had 2 balconies and an amazing panoramic view of the medina (see my attached photo, this was taken from the balcony of our room). The room itself was large, and clean for the most part. We did find the bathroom not cleaned properly (hair on the floor, wet footprints from the shower to the sink) but once we brought that to the staff's attention it was fixed immediately and we were able to enjoy our stay at this comfy hotel. You truly can't find a better view in any other hotel in Chaouen!
Mufasa was very helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and clean. The food and bar areas were both nice. The pool/outdoor eating/drinking area with the mountain/city view was outstanding.
