Wherever you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you prepare well enough. We've put together a list of handy tips that will help get your Spruce Peak escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:

• Air travel can be a great experience if you take the right things. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletries, such as deodorant, toothpaste and a toothbrush, a fresh set of clothes and a few magazines. Secondly, find a spot in your bag for your mobile phone, a charger, any daily medications and perhaps a cozy neck pillow too. • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.

• Your travel ID and boarding pass will need to be inspected by airport security. Have them close by to avoid fumbling around for them.
