If you're poorly prepared, traveling can be challenging. But there's no need to panic. Follow these tips and tricks for a pain-free start to your time in Hvar. What to pack in your hand luggage:

• A plane trip can be a cruisy experience if you bring the right things. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletry items, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a fresh set of clothes and a magazine or two. Next, find room in your hand luggage for your phone and charger, any medications and maybe a blow-up neck pillow as well. Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:

• Put all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) won't be allowed on. Pointed or sharp objects, like your trusty Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are flammable or explosive, such as spray paint, flares and fuels, are also prohibited.

What to wear on a flight:

• Comfort should be your number one priority when choosing what to wear on board. Loose, breathable clothing is a smart option, as are flat, enclosed shoes.
• The result of sustained periods of immobility, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot condition that can affect passengers on long-distance flights. Lower your risks by drinking water, keeping your legs and ankles moving and wearing compression socks or tights.

• First things first. Your boarding pass and travel ID will need to be inspected by security personnel. Keep them someplace accessible to avoid fumbling around for them.
