If you’re not prepared, traveling can be tough. But don’t hit the panic button just yet. Follow these handy hints for a pleasant start to your vacation in Douglas. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First and foremost, pack your passport, travel docs, wallet and medications. Next, you’ll want some extra in-flight entertainment to while away the time. A juicy novel and a laptop filled with your favorite movies are some wonderful options. If you plan to catch forty winks, a neck pillow and some noise-canceling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, squeeze in a toothbrush and some deodorant to ensure you arrive looking fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of prohibited items can differ between airlines, the general rule to follow is nothing flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes knives, scissors, fireworks and fuel. Sporting equipment like ice skates, and items that could injure passengers, such as guns and swords, can’t come on board with you either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The long, narrow aisles of a plane are no fashion runway. Wear comfortable clothes and pack a cardigan as the temperature can drop inside the cabin during longer flights. Enclosed, flat shoes are also recommended.
- The condition by the name of DVT (deep vein thrombosis) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It’s the result of blood clotting due to inactivity and poor circulation. Walking up and down the aisle and doing leg and foot exercises while seated helps to prevent this happening. Wearing a good pair of compression tights or socks is also a wise idea.
