We've pulled together all the info you need to make your journey as enjoyable as possible. Follow our tips and you'll be breezing through the airport and enjoying Deloraine before you know it.What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a comfortable experience if you pack the right things. First of all you'll need toiletry items, such as deodorant, toothpaste and a toothbrush, a fresh change of clothes and something to read. Next, leave space in your bag for your laptop, a charger, your important medications and perhaps a comfy neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, be sure to take your passport, travel docs and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of restricted items differs between airlines, the general guide to follow is avoid carrying anything flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes screwdrivers, knives, aerosol cans and bleaching agents. Sporting equipment like bows and arrows, and items that could harm other people, such as swords and guns, are also banned from the cabin.
What to wear on a flight:
- The goal here is to be as comfortable as possible. Layer yourself up in natural fibers and don't forget to pack a cardigan in case it gets cold in the cabin. Pick a pair of flat, slightly roomy shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell during the journey. Leave the stilettos and heavy boots in your main luggage.
- Caused by sustained periods of inactivity, DVT (deep vein thrombosis) is a serious condition that can affect some passengers during long flights. The good news is there are ways to lower your risk of developing it. Drink plenty of water, get up and walk around the cabin as much as you can and wear compression socks or tights.
